A way to change stair directions easily

I think there should be some kind of tool or something that can change the direction of stairs without breaking them. Maybe you can crouch and use an axe or add a hammer like in Terraria. It can sometimes be impossible to break stairs to try to get them to face the way you want them to, a tool that you can simply tap stairs with to change which way they face and connect to other stairs would make building with them so much easier.
