Emerald Armor and Tools
A second type of emerald could be introduced. One type used for trades with villagers, the other used for armor and tools.
The type of emerald used for tools and armor could have a different texture than the current ore used for trades. It could also have a different rarity.
Or perhaps emeralds used for armor and tools could be crafted with a process similar to Netherite. There could be shards found underground similar to amethyst crystals, that would require a certain amount and a special crafting station to form them into usable ore.
Its strength/durability could be a step above diamond, but below Netherite. Or perhaps it could be on par with diamond or Netherite, but with a different debuff added to it. (Netherite has knockback resistance, perhaps emerald could boost speed or increase villager trade quality when equipped. Perhaps it could also provide immunity to pillager curse.)
Side note, if the Aether is added, perhaps this rare emerald could be found there. Maybe it could be called something along the lines of "Aetherite Emerald." (Thus fitting two long anticipated updates into one.)
