t I'd like to see is more story and communityin villages, because right now they are farmed, basic NPC traders & I feel that they have so much potential. Maybe giving them dialogue when interacting with them, have villagers talk, gather stuff, trade & work together on things. Furthermore, make types that would be important to a village- builders, animal farmers, healers, miners etc. The farmers can now till ground to make farms & builders(if they were added) could build houses for others or repair damaged structures in the village. New structures too in the villages. For example, a quarry/mine for the miner, animal farms, healers tent/cabin, builders station. Also, for player/villager interaction, again maybe some on-screen dialogue & quests/odd jobs that they could pay you to do. Maybe they could hire you to do things like an actual job, or vice versa, getting paid for doing things. Issue with villagers is how easy they make the game when farmed. fix this could be by making it so villagers can't restock without harvesting resources by going out to get them themselves or trading with others, & without necessary structures, like their own houses, sources of food or people/specific traders, would die/lose jobs or trades. This prevents farming them and encourages a normal village.
