A few things with the animations. When it turns towards the player, its head doesn't move independently of the body. The whole thing just rotates. Also, sometimes the walking animation stops or moves very slowly while it's walking. The sniffing sounds and footstep sounds aren't perfectly synced with their respective animations, but that one is more minor. Finally, the animations don't flow very smoothly from one to the other.

That said, I love the animations and sounds! I really hope they're fleshed out more in the next snapshot, great work!

I absolutely love the sniffer's overall design, although I feel that the textures need to be changed so they're more pixel consistent with the rest of the world (especially the snifflet, way too detailed for it's small size). Also giving the sniffer a wider range of plants to sniff up will really help motivate the player to actually seek out this mob and use it. Just having the one plant (with no functionality) feels like it makes the sniffer quite pointless. I'd also suggest trying out a mechanic that once torchflowers have been grown, they can be picked like regular flowers and placed anywhere. If I want to use this plant in my builds i don't want to be limited in the fact that I have to have it on a crop. I really like where the sniffer is going overall, and I think those few tweaks will help it become truly great!

I don't believe a sniffer can stop quickly. It would be cool if, at the end of the panic (the one after hitting him), he would not just stop, but fall and be stunned.
You can also make a smoother running path with less deviation. Then he can also hit the wall and take additional damage.
And to this you can add the effect of stars around the head.

Desaturate the sniffer a lil bit and remove that bright glint color texture on the top of the sniffer's bush body. I feel like it would look better if the texture doesn't look like the top of it's bush body isn't shining to an all-present light source.

Snifflets should have a texture difference, larger texture or bigger heads. It just doesn't feel right...

The sniffer needs a new seed not just torch flower seeds.

The flower that you get from the sniffer should create a mysterious stew with an unusual effect. This effect should last long enough. I think this idea should increase the meaning of all these actions associated with this mob.

I think the sniffer should look more blocky, as the current model looks like a mod more than vanilla Minecraft.

You should be able to breed the Sniffer with the torchflowers, whereupon they will place a single egg on the ground, which you can mine and transport with Silk touch, because they will fetch those very plants.
In addition, the sniffer should only move in a certain area where it hatched from the egg, for example only in an area of 50 blocks, so that you always know where the sniffer is.
and you should still be able to find the sniffer eggs in ocean ruins to make them more useful, but also in suspicious sands.
with those things the sniffer would be even better.

I think that it would be nice if the sniffer could travel in a boat like other mobs! also I think it would be nice and helpful if we could lead boats like in Minecraft pe/bedrock! Thank you so much Mojang team!

Oh I forgot, the torch flower growth mechanics are great!

can you do this for the rest of the flowers at some point.

idk about two tall flowers though.

Can sniffers be warden proof as the warden would have seen the ancients build the deep cities with the sniffers help as they’re abilities would have been desired.

The warden is stated to be “ancient“ same for the sniffer.

The wardens would find sniffer sounds and smell a reminder of their past and their senses would recognize sniffers.

Hate to see a nice opportunity for a new class of dye colors go to waste. A new neon or pastel set would be incredible.

Other than that, my only hope is that the new plants number more than one or three. Please dont skimp on the new plants mojang, this is why we voted for the sniffer!

Also, make at least one of them a non-flower plant, like a palm-frondy bush or a stubby prehistoric tree like plant. The sniffer seems to be the closest we will ever get to being able to terraform an area into a tropical paradise.

I have a idea for the SNIFFER and it's really cool the bush on it's back can grow and the bigger it gets when you shear it the bigger the bush the more leave clumps you get and you can craft a new armor I like to call it " sniffer leaves Armor" not a good name but back the armor itself the armor makes mobs agro activation render distance lower by like 7 blocks less now to the downside I put with it since it's just leaves stuck together it's worse than leather armor so it's a one hit break but it helps for sneaking around in the forest and like you can go to a furnace or put it in a crafting table with some new item (I don't know what to say to do this) you can make a dessert version cuz like the normal version of the armor won't work in the dessert and the mobs can still see you.

the sniffer is great, and I love the torch flower, but I think the torch flower should have more of a use than just a simple flower. I also think that it would be cool for maybe more seeds that grew new foods! or maybe some new ores he could sniff up! and I also think it would be cool if sometimes he rolled over and you could give him a stomach rub, he could maybe even drop something when given a stomach rub. it would definitely add so much more possibilities to the game and add so much more fun. I think you should be able to tame it too, it would be a cool pet for sure. thanks for reading!

Torchflower glowing at night while fully grown could help with knowing when it’s done growing, and it would be a cool way to reveal secret paths and change the look of your base in the night. It would also add some flavor to the plant, because its always a tragedy when an item with so much potential ends up as a niche decoration.

There could be a very rare chance (1 on 10000 for example) that a sniffer would grow up and become as tall as the fossil that look like it.

The sniffer could have a loot table for seeds that it find, there could be 50% of the new seeds and the other 50% could be wheat seeds, pumpkin seeds, watermelon seeds, beetroot seeds (relatively rare), carrots or potatoes (very rare), seagrass or sea pickles (if he sniffs in water) or nether warts (if he sniffs in the Nether).

I think torchflowers could light up small zones.

If other plants are added, I would like to see them used to make luck potion in survival.

So, I noticed the Torchflower can be turned into dye. You should make this a special dye. Also, it would be great if the Torchflowers emitted light. Mabie the dye could too.

It might be cool to a seed the sniffer could find that could grow into a sapling that lets you grow oak trees with the leaves color of Minecraft alpha trees (unaffected by biome color)

The old small rose and cyan rose should be part of the ancient seeds the Sniffer can dig up. It'd make sense since they're both iconic flowers lost to time, so having them be ancient and obtainable again would be nice to have.

Currently the Sniffer doesn't seem mechanically useful for the player. Its decorative purpose to sniff out torchflower is good, but these plants need to have an extra "survival" use for players. Things like potions, equipment, crafting, etc. Right now it's "yet another useless decor mob", but it can be so much more, something that can aid the player in survival. Maybe we can also ride and build on Sniffers?

Minecraft is not just a 3D building app, it's a survival game, and we should have both aesthetics and function. I like to build, but I play minecraft primarily because of survival mode. The adventure, the combat.

The adult Sniffers can be larger like Ravagers, we don't have many large mobs and this is an opportunity. Also, torchflowers need to emit light! It'll look so amazing in builds.

I think that the torch flower should be crafted into a new type of dye, maybe orange-pink!

This would offer more creativity for leather armor, and help storytelling and lore.

You could have added something cool like a dragon or a new boss, but instead we get a giant pig that is made of plants. 🙁 However, I do see a potential use for this creature. Maybe the seeds could be used to create vines that you can swing on, or a type of plant-based grappling line that can be useful for mining, could be used to make plant monsters, or maybe it could be used in potions somehow.

The sniffer should have a somewhat neutral mechanic. If you anger it, he attacks you till you retreat (i.e run away or enderpearl). He should also have more HP and knockback resistance like a hoglin does.

When you hatch the sniffer, it should find the nearest player/player who placed the egg and that player is it's "parent". The snifflet would follow it if possible, unless tied to a fence using a leash, and would not retaliate if its "parent" attacked it.

I do think that the sniffer could sniff up more seeds, and I have some suggestions, but they might be stupid

There's the torchflower, right?  So there should also be a soul torchflower, which is found over an ancient city, and it keeps mobs away.

There should also be a redstone torchflower, which is found over mineshafts and acts as a redstone torch and a daylight sensor since it's a flower, you know?
