Proposition : The Jar fully crafted out of the four different patterns could be used to make potions and store it in bigger quantities just like cauldrons (and store various liquids inside)

Use the same program as the cauldron so that we can throw some water + ingredients inside and create things. It can be used as a storage for potions. The Jar that are not fully powered with patterns can store water or other useless things, but not potions.

I have an idea for archaeology. Add a new excavation site in the caves, where you can find "suspicious gravel" (analogous to sand), you can dig up a new drawing there: Pickaxe and the face of a creeper.

Archaeology needs a big expansion. It needs something to make it a big and exciting part of Trails & Tales. This could involve more dig sites (perhaps even dig sites in other dimensions such as the Nether and End to uncover the ancient secrets of those dimensions!) and more types of ancient artifacts that really expand upon the ancient history of Minecraft, without directly telling the player any sort of one story. Additionally, the existing decorative pots need more customization abilities, such as adding color through dyes and more of a variety of pottery shard patterns. Perhaps even different pot sizes through different shaped crafting recipes.

The archeology feature is kinda cool, but feels under developed. Typically, archeology is related to digging up things from further underground than currently in the snapshots. There are already bone formations built into the generation, which could be fitted into the archeology. Adding maps sold by cartographers that lead to much more elaborate but rare bone formations, with large dinosaurs etc as the shape, in addition to the current archeology system would be a great idea. This would make it feel much more complete and give you that grand feeling of discovery that archeology should give you.

Maybe in the craft of the new pots, we can place in a middle an item like emerald or diamond and we will have to break it to recover the item, it could be fun to discover ancient riches by breaking pots like in zelda

I think different sizes of pots would be cool, personally.

ideas to improve the archeology system and the pots: change the way the small pot is made for three clays, thus making a clay pot, then you can roast, paint and bake it again to glaze it and leave it similar to the block tile, the same process goes to the new pot, being made with 6 clays, however you can also add the pottery shards on the craft table, placing the vase in the middle and the shards around it, then you can bake and paint, but not you can glaze, only if you don't have the shards in the vase.
add relics, relics are items found in suspicious sand, these items are Egyptian themed and have no use, only collectibles, also add suspicious mud, in these swamps there will be places with suspicious mud, which when excavated with the appropriate tool, will drop a item, similar to suspicious sand, but when in the sand you find Egyptian relics, you will find fossil records, such as skulls, footprints and other items, only collectibles

I really hope we can dye pots, maybe even use glazed terracotta with them somehow to add crazy patterns to them like real life pots. Would make the new pots even cooler and add another use for dyes or even glazed terracotta like I mentioned

If we could be able to glaze them like terracotta, it would be amazing

It would be funny if you could lift the Pots above your head and throw them like in Zelda. Maybe they could deal damage when thrown on something.
If you break a Pot placed by another player, you get an Achievement/Advancement. But what would it be called?

I think these new dessert features like camels and archaeology lean towards a new biome update. If the dessert biome was update these features wouldn't be out of place. Maybe by an oasis or an update village

Y’all know what would be pretty darn cool? What if there was an exclusive pot type that matches the one from Minecraft Dungeons. It would spawn in desert/jungle temples and desert villages, and can be hit with a pickaxe to drop a few emeralds, more with fortune. Or, with silk touch, you can pick it up and bring it with you, allowing you to show off the fact that you’ve found one of these structures easily. Also, it provides a more minimalist pot design, and would really add to the lore because of its implications. Game Theory would have a Field day.

Add suspicious gravel to jungle temples. It would function exactly like suspicious sand and add extra value to seeking out a jungle temple. The jungle could have it's own unique set of pottery shards including an ocelot face design.

    Brush Painting.

Pots seem much plain with the terracotta texture. Brush painting in 1.20 is a good idea for the brush, pots, and the colorable blocks. You could dip the brush in a colored cauldron and start painting!

Archeology is supposed to be the best piece of this update, and it needs a lot more features, it could be already 50% complete.

    - Add many more excavation sites, there should be many more, not just 2.

    - This would lead to adding more suspicious blocks (dirt, gravel, red sand?)

    - The current excavation sites are great, but how about adding an entire ruined excavation structure? Similar to the one shown during Minecraft Live 2020.

    - Give at least one other function to decorative vases (Add flowers 2 blocks tall, or put liquids or potions inside the vase!)

    - The decorative vases should be further customizable, perhaps by adding colors on each side, or other signs. (similar to armor)

    - Add more pottery shards. This would give an edge to exploration and customization.

    - Add other decorative items to excavation sites (such as customizable ancient totems for display in a museum or lost stone tablets perhaps depicting an ancient jungle civilization now extinct)

    - Giving players one more reason to search archaeological sites by adding functions that are not only purely decorative, such as a new enchantment, a new record of ancient music, or a very rare artifact capable of giving new life to a copper golem full of dust and oxidized found in a desert temple or a new structure.

    - I think it's finally time to add the copper golem! Adding altogether 3 new mobs (Sniffer, Camels and Copper Golem) as done in update 1.19 I think is a fair and balanced choice!

I think it would be neat if we can dig up sniffer fossils. Like how the ruined portal serves as a hint that you can make nether portals, you should be able to dig up sniffer fossils as a hint that sniffers exist and that you may be able to revive them.

I think currently pots don't do a good job of representing what pottery is like. Due to the scrapping of baking the pot, the creation of a pot is way less involved than it used to be.

I get that it would be hard to figure out for an uninformed player and inconsistent with the crafting of other blocks, however beehives essentially have the same functionality of a block interacting with a campfire below it, but without the visual queues that baking would provide (clay pot -> terracotta pot). However, despite this, beehives seem to be properly explained via advancements, and if this is enough for beehives, I find it a bit weird that this wouldn't be enough for pots.

Personally, as someone who worked with clay a lot as a child, I found the process of clay being baked to be fascinating, I find it sad to see this removed.

On another note, although to me somewhat less important, I think storytelling through pots is not executed very well.

Although yes, 4 icons can be displayed on a pot, they don't form one 'scene', like the prototype pots did, so it might be hard for any uninformed player to understand there is a story another player wanted to tell them with it.

And if the design is to use multiple pots to tell the story, I don't feel that represents how pots with stories on them work very well, as, for example, ancient Greek pots tell a story on a singular pot and not an entire art gallery.

I do like the way they look though. Visually they are very fun blocks.

So I know this idea hasn't been talked about in anything. I want to suggest if this Archeology part for the trails and tails update will be able to add other extinct creatures. Like not only the sniffer which is a friendly mob but also some other mobs like maybe... a way to summon a new boss. Since the wither was added in 1.4.2 and the ender dragon is the only real bosses that have heath bars it gets boring fighting them only. So adding a new boss mob that can be summon would be a fun idea since it hasn't been mentioned for a long time. This idea has been a group idea that has been floating around as a question from my friends for a while now. I hope it was a good idea as a suggestion.

Painting wood has already been rejected, but what about painting pots with the brush? It'd go along well with the theme of the update as we'd be able to tell our own stories rather than just the predetermined shards.

Archaeology is really fun in its current state, but options for where archaeology is available are highly restricted. You can only find suspicious sand in desert pyramids and desert wells. That means the vast majority of biomes have no archaeology available and that's both a shame, and quite unrealistic. People live all over the world in every biome leaving remnants of their culture behind for archaeologists to later discover.

I propose that more suspicious sand type blocks be added (suspicious dirt, gravel, etc?) and placed in some existing, and maybe some new structures which could appear in more biomes.

For archaeology I suggest we add ancient weapons designs that are torn into 9 bits but can be found by digging up the sand and used at a crafting table to make a new tools.

Add back the special block-breaking animation where the sand/gravel gradually becomes smaller and smaller while brushing.

Or go even further and make it not just an animation, but so that the player is actually brushing down the block into slabs/mini-slabs, etc! It could be revolutionary for building, especially if another brush(a chisel perhaps) was added for harder blocks like obsidian. Overall I think giving the brush other uses outside of archeology is something to consider.

I think it's a great idea to add suspicious gravel near jungle temples too. This will give archeology more variety and provide players with better and more unique choices. Another Idea is to add them near the key and unique structures like Strongholds or Ancient cities since they are ancient areas that archeologists would search for to find artifacts. Perfectly fits, doesn't it?
