It would be cool to expand the variety of armor trims by using shards as recipe ingredients

Hello, following the recent snapshots, the new pottery system give me some ideas !

    1. Pottery can hold [amount] of the same liquid (like cauldron), and can be taken like shulker boxes.

    2. Comparator can emit a redstone signal depending on the liquid amount and type in the pottery.

    3. Pottery can be dyeable, to recognize them.

    4. Pottery can be cooked, to make them crackled.

    5. TNT can be placed in a pottery, to make a hidden tnt.

    6. Pottery parts and design can be customize with datapacks or ressources packs.

    7. Pottery can be filled up by dispensers.

I hope you will like those feedbacks ! <3

I think overall, Archaeolgy could be expanded upon. Both Desert Temples and Desert Wells are kinda rare structures, so maybe those two could use extra suspicious sand. Jungle Temples, all underwater ruins, Ancient Cities, and even the Ruined Portal structures could use some dig sites as well, using suspicious sand or suspicious gravel depending on the structure. Archaeolgy definitely could use some more pottery shards as well, since it is kinda hard to piece together the lore of Minecraft with just 4 pottery shards, although the ones we have do look very nice. And the last thing I'd suggest is adding a new crafting station for assembling pots instead of the crafting table itself. Not everyone would be able to tell how they could be able to put the clay pots together, so maybe after digging up a pottery shard and picking it up, the player should unlock a new recipe for a Ceramic Table, which could be crafted with four wooden planks and two clay bricks. It could be used for an Archaeolgist villager profession, but there isn't too much related to Archaeolgy at the moment for villagers to buy and sell. Otherwise, that is all I have for feedback for now. I hope there is something the Mojang team found helpful with my feedback!

Very excited for this feature especially in the new update!
I have already seen this posted here, but renaming Shards to Sherds would reflect current practice and could be a good way to introduce people to Archaeology.
The Brush is great, but having an option to craft it from wheat would also be a good approach. I have seen and used brushes with grass/plant bristles, and having this in the game also makes this option easily accessible for peaceful players, without necessitating searching for cobwebs
One item to include in suspicious sand finds would be flint. This is a very common thing to find in Archaeology in regions with flint, so having this be a source could also help people understand the flint tipped arrow recipes
All in all, I am very excited with what we have so far! Looking forward to seeing even more!

I wish if you could also find Ancient Armor or Tool Pattern Tablets in special sands, it would bring the Archeology theme & the Armor theme together better.

Also shells in special sand you can find would be cool.

In the future if you add a new material like netherite, make it so u have to brush suspicious sand to find the upgrade but make it very rare, i was thinking something like Tungsten, as an upgrade for iron, making it worse than normal iron but making it extremely durable more than diamond armor.- thats just an example

I personally think that the Brush item should be crafted in a different way. The current one is not bad, I will just add the Copper Ingot in the middle so the crafting will use three String, one Stick and one Copper Ingot.

I hope this change will be soon implemented in the new snapshots!

Another idea would be to better combine sniffer and archeology.

Sunken villages, that is to say, for example: old, ancient villages that the snooper could sniff out. But they are now underground, sand or mud and completely encapsulated by them, like in a bubble.

How about to return the firing of the clay pot? Also I really like new design of the pots and new shards, but how about some addictions?:

    1. It would be cool to make the pot`s surface more different: there are would be shards that are poss. to place on the edges of the pots.

    2. Smaller shards: they would be some shards, that are similar to those was at the minecraft life on 2020.

    https://twitter.com/AlchyIl/status/1626236738506203137?s=20 - a little concept-art by me

    3. It is obvious but if there are going to be some more places to dig in other bioms, we need to to some more shards or another items, typical to those bioms.

    P.S. Sorry 4 my 🛏️ England

I am very happy that archeology is part 1.20. However, I think it needs some changes.

I think instead of crafting pots with patterns in the crafting table, we should be able to apply pottery shards to pots without patterns with the left mouse button (should be accompanied by some satisfying sound). I understand that the introduction of the archeology system presented on Minecraft Live was too difficult for you to do, but the solution I proposed combines how satisfying the old system was with the simplicity and ease of implementation of the new system.

I believe that you should need the copper visible on the brush texture to craft the brush (this will give a new use for copper).

I like the new look of the pots, but I think you should add a lot more pottery shards.

Suspicious sand should have a small chance of appearing on the beach (with a special beach pottery shard).

Finally, I would like to point out that soup (ancient soup) as a loot in a desert well does not make much sense.

    • In general, i think more suspicious sand could generate in desert pyramids and desert wells, as right now, its quite too rare.
-The new room in the desert pyramid is great, but i think it could not be all covered with sand and suspicous sand, instead just have some piles of those blocks around, but still be open enough to find the room and have see a bit of how it looks. if more rooms were added in the structure, maybe using the space underground, it could encourage more time and exploration in the structure and possible places to find more suspicious sand.
-More items should be added to suspicious sand, to help diversify, maybe add empty buckets to the desert wells, maybe the dune armor template and even the wither rose as a very rare loot item in the desert pyramids, so it becomes possible to find them in peaceful mode.
-The pots could be colored ( maybe even distinct coloring for the pots and the pottery symbols) and be used to store things or aleast hold big flowers
      - its a excellent choice how some pottery shards can only be found in the pyramids and one in the desert wells, it makes the quest be more varied, but more designs of shards could be added, for decoration and diversity of finding them.

It would be nice if there were suspicious dirt blocks and suspicious gravel blocks.

I think there needs to be a bit more intrinsically motivating factors of Archaeology, instead of being solely for decoration. Yes, I know you can get precious items, but I'm talking about unique loot, for instance, you should be able to dig up rare items like (Just a random idea) a Scarab heart that would make noise in your inventory when you're near an unopened chest, to help with finding buried treasure and dungeons.

I don't know what caused them to almost completely change the original concept of archeology presented at Minecon 2020 of 1.17, to change it for the one they added in the experimental snapshot, honestly I liked the original concept better and being able to create vases through that mechanic of pottery by placing it in a raw vase (using clay to create the raw vase), then adding the found fragments to it and then placing it on the fire to dry and thus leave the vase with its cave designs, that mechanic makes more sense than create a vase using broken shards and dried clay bricks.

Now, the ideas that I propose:

    • When breaking a vase, it does not break like a glass block, but returns some ceramic fragments, it does not apply to use silk touch, the vase is always broken and the fragments are obtained
    • Possibility to carry the vases with two hands, it would be great if it were another object transport mechanic ("Carrier" mod) but exclusive for some blocks like vases
    • Vases as containers of water but that is not introduced by the player but by rain (it may not make sense to collect it from the rain due to the infinite water mechanic but it can be used for decoration reasons)
    • The vases can appear in ruins, additionally some can be full of sand and when breaking the vase, in the place where the vase was it becomes a block of "suspicious sand" and when using the brush it always brings out a treasure in it ( This was done by ancient cultures when burying their dead, leaving valuables in vases)

Would be great to find unique pots, relics and artifacts in suspicius sand.

Add dig sites or structures where you could find variations of suspicious sand, like suspicious red sand, suspicious soul sand (could be near ruined portals), suspicious gravel and suspicious dirt, perhaps in Ancient Cities or Jungle Pyramids.

The option to dye or make glazed pots would add really cool ways of decoration and self expression too.

It seems to me that giving archeology vessels a function is a good idea, I think they could function as storage for liquids and semi-liquids, for example water, milk and honey, taking into account that the vessels may not have a very large or small stock.

It would be cool to add to the functionality of these pots \ vases. At the time of its crafting, is there still a place in the center? So there is an opportunity to put any object there, and until the vase is broken with a tool, this object will be there. Or, after crafting, click on the vase with the object that you want to put and press the right mouse button (probably in addition, squat), and you can't pull it out without breaking the vase. You can also try to store liquids in it, and maybe a dynamite trap that explodes when broken by a tool (or will preserve the properties of some mechanics of objects placed in a vase (sounds like nonsense, but why not) also add the ability to break them with an anvil, the creators of the cards will thank you, I think. I hope google translator conveyed my idea

I feel like archeology is kind of not fun, when you know, in what block the loot is. I think, that the suspicious sand should be the same texture as the normal sand, so you don't know, where the loot is, if you don't use f3, that is. I feel like, that digging up all around a desert pyramid or a desert well, not knowing where to look would be more fun. I also liked the idea of firing up the clay pot. Also, not sure if this will be coming later, but I think that brushing away the layers of the sand, like in Minecraft Live 2020 would be more fun and realistic, than the item slowly appearing from the side of the block.

We want more temples like in the mountains adding abandoned castles and in the forests adding ancient cities and in the plains adding some Greek ruins and adding pottery to each area

Does this decorative pot actually do anything? Is there a reason why I would find all of these ancient pot shards to make a decorative pot?

The new archeology is very well done, but I think it would be more tempting to the players if these vessels had some simple use, such as putting water, or that their texture inside was in 3d, and also that the crafting of the vessels is added a little bit of copper, because it doesn't make much sense for a part of the brush to have a copper-like part if it's not present in the crafting

Nautilus shells and bones should be able to be found in digsites, along with flint. Perhaps nautilus shells could be restricted to Ocean Ruin digsites, of course as a reference to ammonite fossils. Other fossil items could be added to the game too including trilobite fossils, skeleton skulls (rarely), and other collectible fossil items.

There can be some enchantments for the brush. One of them can increase the dust speed. And another of them can increase the rarity of the loot you get from dusting. Also some of these enchantments can be obtained from suspicious sand

The mineshaft center will be fantastic with archeology, imagine SUS gravel with new items, or diamonds in it, also archeology in other biomes would be great
