How do I downvote this idea?

I really think you guys should use the Nether Star in the crafting of the Netherite Armor.
It is difficulty to get and literally have "Nether" in the name of it.

It just makes sense to me!

So effectively a greedy player could rush the nether and steal all the templates from bastions to keep other players from being able to upgrade their gear. Seems kinda counter intuitive to lock progression behind an item that is easily hoardable by a minority that would impact a majority of players in a multiplayer setting.

Remove crafting "Netherite Upgrade" template. Make netherite items valuable.

Adding more obstacles to delay the acquisition of netherite gear makes it seem like the gear should also be changed to make it more desirable. It's better than regular diamond gear, but not dramatically better. The diamond cost of duplicating the template is higher than the diamond cost of the base pieces of most armor, and more than double that of tools. It will likely discourage some players from bothering with netherite tools when they have a choice between making two spare diamond pickaxes instead of a copy of a template to convert their first one to netherite.

I really like the idea of making structures more integral to the game through spawning armour trimming templates in chests. It really links the world together a lot more and further encourages exploration.

However I think adding the netherite upgrading template would make the armour process much too complex as it only spawns in a specific chest in a structure that is very difficult to raid. As a casual Minecraft player this would take serious time and dedication to learn how to raid and even then it would take multiple attempts to actually a bastion remnant. After all of that the template is consumable, and although it can be duplicated, there is a danger that you use it before duplication and end up with nothing.

Mojang I love this idea but it being craftable with its own item doesn’t really line up to me so instead you should you use other materials like Magma cream and a nether star making it more useful and maybe change the texture a bit it doesn’t really make sense I do like the idea so I hope that this gets to you thank you.

IMO, this change makes netherite so hard to get that only the most hardcore Minecraft players(YouTubers and twitch streamers) would have netherite. Just make the netherite upgrade (and the rest of the smithing templates) reusable, similar to banner patterns.

Make it also a super rare drop of a structure related respawnable mobs for multi player

I think it should be cancelled, after all, the cost is too high This is for new players It's not good
I personally don't like it I think this will reduce the exploration of players Since the damage resistance is the same as the diamond suit Then there is no need to spend more cost to upgrade

In my opinion, the templates should be unbreakable, so that way, of course, people would have to look for the upgrade, but they wouldn't have to worry about spending lots of diamonds to duplicate them.

I think the upgrade is too expensive.

It is very dificult to obtain the netherite ingot and you still need to have the diamond equipment to upgrade. So, having to search for the template (what is very hard for it self, beside the fact that to duplicate it is more expensive than make another diamond tool) is an excessive work for something that is fundamental at the game.

In my opinion, the netherite upgrade template should not be added to the grame, and the upgrade should not be changed.

While Smithing Templets are an amazing new implantation to the game there is 1 major flaw in their design which is the accessibility. While you are able to duplicate them once you obtain one the larger problem is revealed on worlds where there are more than one player(Servers) depending on the quantity of players on a server smithing templets could become entirely monopolized by certain groups so I have an idea that doesnt decrease the difficulty of obtaining them it does however ensure that there is never a finite amount of templets in the world while adding value to another feature in the game that many players do not like, the wandering villager. By giving the wandering trader the chance to spawn with templets, templets can remain hard to obtain but never finite for servers. This can be balanced by having the rate of obtainability be a decrease of dividing by 5-10%  the rate of finding them in their respective structures or by having the chance the wandering trader spawns with a templet be linked to which biome they spawn in for example if they spawn in the desert they have a chance to sell the dune templet or the wild templet in the jg this still encourages exploration while giving some love to the wandering trader who many players do not currently enjoy. (I actually love the wandering trader and would like to see some love shown to him as his loot has not fully aged well with time) PS: Sorry i just realized this was the wrong feedback page.

I saw that many people like the idea to give golden trim the feature to distract piglins. Which would mean your netherite helmet would work as a gold one would. I honestly think thats to op for vanilla. It still kinda cool that you need to use „worse“ or other Armor pieces. Its like an elytra. You can either fly or be full armor. Same should be for the helmet. Either golden helmet and piglin safe or full netherite. It would make the whole game experience more diverse if you actually need to think about what you wear.

"We’re hoping that this change will unify the gear upgrading system with the introduction of armor trims..."
Why? Face it, it's time to abandon using the smithing table for the netherite upgrade. It is highly unintuitive to upgrade diamond to netherite in a smithing table in the first place. The upgrade template only exists to justify still using the smithing table for netherite. Make netherite crafting recipes just use ingots like any other armor or tool, please. The netherite ingot in the smithing table wasn't a good idea to begin with. And now using the Smithing table for both purely cosmetic effect AND getting the BEST gear in the game is just ridiculous and highly confusing. The upgrade idea is just like a bad mod.

"as well as make exploring Bastion Remnant structures a more integral part of game progression."
Game progression or Material progression? Do you want Bastions to serve in the path of completing the game? Then add something NECESSARY to completing the game into the Bastion Remnant. These places are already way too difficult for a lot of players even with full netherite. Add a reason for netherite to be useful in a Bastion instead of needing a Bastion for netherite. Nether Fortress has Blazes which are needed to craft an Ender Eye to find the Stronghold and beat the game.
Or do you just want people to take longer to get to netherite? Then remove the netherite upgrade and make it possible to craft netherite armor/tools with ingots directly.

maybe you can make "netherite upgrade template" item optional. players could upgrade their diamond gear with a netherite ingot & diamond, or a netherite upgrade template which doesn't require any netherite ingot. this way all players could be satisfied with this new update. hardcore players could go bastions and casual players can explore nether in the old fashioned way. it's a win-win :)

I think making them not break on use but making them a lot more rarer would maybe help. Or to make sure everyone doesn’t rely on one template, give it a certain number of uses before it breaks. Or another solution, make bastions have a somewhat easy way to find them. Maybe a compass that points in the direction of one but only if it’s close enough to the player.

I love the concept of requiring lots of diamonds to upgrade. Diamonds need to have more uses to feel valuable and important.

I don't love the idea of requiring this recipe to be found in bastions. I think they should be obtainable in more ways and more infinite ways.

Perhaps a template item which cannot be used to craft, and a way to create upgrade "kits" with a netherite ingot and 8 diamonds? This would require 4 gold, 4 ancient debris, and 8 diamonds for every single netherite upgrade.

Perhaps piglins could give such a template as one of the tradeable items.

I think that the netherite upgrade should be found in every type of bastions treasure room but only one so there wouldn’t be too many.

For me this update is great as well, because it makes me my Diamond. Because in my case I only buy armor with the Village... I don't mine anymore! so with this update I'm going to mine, I'm going to the bastion, because even after the nether update I won't go to the bastions. So exploring the nether more... so for me it's good like that

Ich finde man sollte mit einer vollen Personalisierten Rüstung mit voller Smaragd Verziehrung einen Rabatt bei Dorfbewohnern bekommen welcher aber nicht zu stark aber dennoch lohnenswert ist.

I think getting netherite gear is already barely worth it, as it is not much better than diamond anyway. I would like to see a buff for netherite gear if you’re making it more expensive to get. It doesn’t have to be huge, but I think with this change getting netherite gear will be even harder to justify getting, and wil make just sticking with diamond gear even more enticing.

I don't think this is a good idea in the slightest, I know Mojang probably won't see this but this isn't a good idea for enjoyment of the game, the way of abstaining the netherite upgrades is absurd and uneeded. Making netherite was hard enough already but now it isn't even worth playing the game anymore. This just feels like a cheap way to try and balance the game even though it makes nothing easier and just makes everything worse in the way that it makes it worse for new player and new servers. I just feel like the change is an unneeded burden.

At First :DONT MAKE THE UPGRADE PERMANENT
Netherite Armour is a big gamechanger because u can swim in Lava. So ist should bei hard to get füll netherite Armour.
My Idea is: players shouldnt can Copy the Upgrade Templates because copying feels wrong but the Upgrades should can found in ruined portals, Nether fortress and Bastion with a high cahnce
