I don't know if Mojang will considerate my idea, or at least read it, but well:

My idea is to make more hard to get this Netherite Upgrade, or try to make the crafting to duplicate it more harder, it can replace the 7 diamonds, to have 2 or 4 diamonds blocks or 1 or 2 netherite ingots to make the netherite a really true challenge to get it.

If Mojang wants to make players have for more time diamond armors, tools and weapons, so be it. :)

This mechanic can be a little bit crazy but is my idea, hope you'll check it! :D

I think the additional difficulty to netherite was a little much. As someone who plays relatively frequently, getting a full set of netherite was already a multi hour grind, and depending on luck and availability to play, could result in being a venture that lasted a couple of days.

I think that making it so that the only way to upgrade armor with a findable template, you'll get a similar issue that elytras have where they're nearly impossible to get in servers bigger than a few people because you'll always run into a some people looting all of the chests in each direction, meaning you'll have to travel for a few real time hours just to get to new terrain. [and then it's not even guaranteed that when you finally find a new bastion, it'll have a template.] At the very least, it could help to make a recipe to craft templates without finding them.

In general, I don't think this change has players in big servers or casual/younger players in mind. Not everyone was willing to grind for Netherite before this change, and I think increasing difficulty will just make that even more of a problem.

Why is Netherack used for the Smithing template? Isn't Netherack a dirt equivalent?

I suggest making the recipe for duplicating Netherite Smithing Template use Blackstone instead...

Also change the texture of the item to reflect Blackstone instead of Netherack.

Well, while I do see the positives behind the change, I also feel it could have some complications as things are now. What I mean by this is that the process to get netherite was made harder, without reconsidering certain aspects about the old method of getting it.

Think of it this way, since netherite isn't the only resource required to get its tier anymore, couldn't the recipe for netherite ingots be made a little cheaper? like instead of 4 netherite scrap and 4 gold ingots, it being just 3 scrap and 3 gold. With this, we do reduce the work required a little bit, but also not enough to off-set the idea behind this change of requiring more resources to get netherite gear and tools, which I see as a good compromise.

I like the idea of making netherite armor harder to obtain, but I think a netherrack block is too common for the Smithing Template recipe. I think obsidian should be replace netherrack to not only make the recipe a little more challenging, but to also justify the upgrade's new reisistanves

I’m perfectly happy with the current system. With the purposed design theres bound to be more than a few players that will forget to copy the blueprint and get frustrated. Another issue after seeing a short play through not all bastions will have the blueprints, can you comment if there is a randomness to the blueprints locations?

If there is a increase in difficulty to get netherite armor/tools there needs be a benefit “to make it worth it” for the player; such as increasing resistance to lava, increase the base resistance of general, fire, projectile and blast.

I'm very happy with that change, but... maybe that should be give an buff of anything, or like everyone says , give an feature of Gold/Diamond/Netherite for example:
Netherite: Give to the other armors Lava proof.
    Diamond/Emerald: Give more Durability.
    Gold: Make piglins neutral.
    Lapis: Maybe... ¿Enchantibility?
And... i don't have more ideas for other minerals.

I like the idea of making netherite a bit harder to obtain.

The only issue I see would be on servers where there would be a limited amount of unexplored and balancing out how easy it is to find a template. True, they can be copied but you can't force cooperation between players who find templates and players who don't. So then it becomes an issue of is netherite upgrading not even being a possibility for some players.

Maybe a solution would be to make the templates craftable thru blocks found in the construction of the bastions vs in chests within bastions? Maybe gilded blackstone.

I would rather have the upgrade templates be broken, but not disappear after one use. You would repair the broken template in the same way that you duplicate a template right now. This way we also avoid people accidentally using their last template, and having to go look for a new one.
I am a casual player, and can only play for an hour or so a day, and it already takes me months to get a full set of netherite armor. At least making the templates not be consumed upon use would mean upgrading to netherite is harder, but not impossible for casual players. I like the importance the template gives to bastions though!

I think it would be good if you could use more than one trim for a piece of armor, for example, use one trim with diamond in a netherite chestplate, and then apply a completely different trim with any material (could be the same diamond, but it doesn't matter use another), and so, it will result in a very personalized armor of my choice, just like the banners works, but applying trims one over another. Also, it would be cool if the use of the material could bring something a bit useful for the armor, for example, emerald would lower villager prices by one (only the prices that are more than one), gold reduces range of piglin's agro to the player, and so on, making worth it to customize your armor, but not giving too much advantage/make obsolete other items.

Instead of using netherack in it’s crafting recipe it should use a harder to obtain block like guilded black stone which would also make sense since netherite is made partially out of gold.

I love the looks for the new armor trims, but I have to say that Netherite is already an interesting enough challenge to get full gear for in itself. The only reliable way to get it is to use TNT or beds, which is resource intensive if you don't have/use farms unless you're raiding villages for beds -which is mean- and so I don't think it should be made more challenging to make Netherite than it already is.

I mean, if each armor trim/upgrade etc would provide new functional uses rather than purely cosmetic, it would ultimately be worth it. But I think it should be left primarily the same, with the new templates needing to either be used only if you want the armor trims.

As of right now, I think armor trims are a cool cosmetic item, but way too expensive to replicate.

7 diamonds (or any diamond cost for that matter) is ultimately not worth duplicating something that simply does nothing more than allow you to design your armor.

It offers no in-game benefit, and is therefore too expensive and not really enticing enough to go after.

Netherite is expensive enough as it is, and rare to find even with the bed/tnt method of mining, and it is therefore needless to complicate that further.

I suggest that the trims each be given a functional use, even if it's relatively small, to begin to offset this.

To use the standard "armor template" I think Netherite armor should be given a smaller buff. Netherite is not above diamond to the same extent that diamond is to iron for example.

I believe the netherite upgrade template should be more expensive. It would be a great opportunity to make the netherite set more powerful and give it an actual advantage over diamond which is quite subtle at the moment. I think the netherite pickaxe should be able to instant mine deepslate and the axe should be able to instant mine some log kinds (both only with efficiency enchantments and possibly Haste of course). Especially the deepslate thing is important because there currently not being a tool that can do that greatly discourages people from building larger things in the lower layers of the world. The armour set should also get a more significant advantage over diamond.

For all of these things I would gladly use another netherite ingot for crafting the template - possibly even a netherite block.

What I specifically do not want to see is the crafting recipe getting removed in order to make the template harder to obtain. Especially on larger servers this unnecessarily inflates the world save size. Also exploring is exciting but not if you have to do it again and again when you lose your things.

I'm fine with the upgrades being necessary for armor trims to personalize your gear, but it should be ONLY for aesthetic changes. While I don't mind exploring, I much prefer finding a cool spot and building. The thought of having to wander through multiple bastions to get an upgrade template, grind for the diamonds needed to copy said template at least nine times and then grind for netherite is a massive and unneeded time sink. Especially for those of us who have jobs and just want to build and enjoy a survival experience.

    Here are my suggestions :-
1.The templates should get cracked/broken instead of vanishing and could be repaired by using the duplication recipe.
2.The trims should not give any benifit, No one would like to sacrifice their favourite trim for perks.
3.Glow ink sack should make the trims glow in the dark.
    4. Netherite template could spawn in nether fortress with a lower chance than bastions.

I like the new system of upgrading netherite, but I think the design templates shouldn’t require diamonds to duplicate. It could be like banner patterns that don’t get taken when used. It makes sense to need extra diamonds to make netherite armor but not to decorate iron armor.

I don't mind the current placement/costs of it, but I feel the duping in particular costs way too much. If duping the template yielded better results I feel it'd be slightly more fair. Turning 1 smithing template into 3-4 off of one craft is much more fair in my opinion.

So I've said this elsewhere, before I saw this thread but I'll say it here, too.
While I feel in Singleplayer worlds and on multiplayer servers that reset regularly this is a fine change, there is a massive barrier for those of us who run public servers which don't reset often, if at all.

Smithing Templates as aesthetic pieces are fine, but Netherite Upgrade Templates are often going to be extremely difficult to obtain as the nether is very well explored and widely looted on these servers.

A simple fix for these communities to this would see Netherite Upgrade Templates craftable with Netherite Scraps and some other ingredients; I would propose 6 scrap, 2 gold ingots and 1 magma cream. Alternatively, bringing down the cost of duplicating only Netherite Upgrade Templates, perhaps to 4 dia and 3 netherrack or 3 dia and 4 netherrack.

I really like the netherite changes , because I like
the idea that you need to explore to get netherite stuff.
The copy thing is also really good, it makes finding a template feel like an achievement.

Overall I'm pretty happy, this update makes Diamond much more worth using for a while as we gather our Netherite as before with the small hurdle of the Upgrades. These give an actual use for Diamonds beyond Jukeboxes, Enchantment Tables and Fireworks, etc. Also I think this change works well for new players, they may be exploring the Nether and come across the new upgrade, leading them to research what Netherite actually is. Prior to this update I suspect that Netherite upgrading was unclear if you didn't know how it worked but if the Smithing Table is the block that works with templates, this seems more intuitive for new players in my opinion!

I think it would be better if cloning the upgrade would be a little cheaper. I know I am experienced enough to not have trouble getting netherite armor even if the upgradr recipe used diamond blocks, but I have friends who can't survive the first night without digging a dirt hole, so I am little worried about how they would get access to netherite since it is already hard for them. While some of us may break the game regularly we need to keep in mind the ones who don't invest years into a game. Like, don't make the barrier too overwhelming otherwise you won't get new players, and let's be honest you've pissed off plenty of old players already so Minecraft will die if you don't get new suckers into the game. Plus those who want minecraft to be harder and grindier can just download mods.

I see it as a positive change, you see, as a Minecraft player I have never had the need to explore a stronghold in survival mode and in fact I never have, but thanks to this change if I really want to become much more powerful... I must yes or yes, visit their pretty piglins base to take away that power (I'm willing to try ^-^).

the acquiring of netherite armor is going really far beyond what i'd consider reasonable. Ever since it was released i have yet to get any more than a couple pieces if even, and now i guess i'll have to write off the entire concept. I hope you'll reconsider the sheer difficulty of getting netherite armor, yes obviously it should be more difficult than diamond, but i'd like to actually be able to get it.

I reckon the netherite upgrade item is really cool, but would be even cooler if it wasn't just a one time use. If it behaved like banner patterns, that would be really cool.

I personally really like the new change. Netherite is supposed to be a late game item but it seems that a lot of people get Netherite armour almost as soon as they get diamond armour which defeats the point of diamond armour in a way. I do however feel as though they should not be exclusive to bastions (I may be wrong but I think they are). Maybe have a smaller chance of them spawning in fortresses or ancient cities? Overall I like the change. It causes an actual progression gap between diamond and Netherite tools and armour. On another note. I don't think that gold trims should stop piglins because of the point of trims is to be creative and choose what you think looks good then having gold trims stop piglins forces you into having gold trims and defeats the point of creativity. Just my thoughts.

For the "Netherite Upgrade I recomend:

    - Change the texture of the item. An arrow looking upward is pretty lame.

    - Change the name. A game where you have to explore, collect and craft it doesn't make sense there is an item named like that.

Also there are some armor trims that looks pretty similar between them. I think the design of those armor trims needs to be changed for more original and unique ones.

This is a very personal opinion, but I don't like to use the redstone, lapiz lazuli and emerald for costumize an armor. Their bright colors contrast a lot with the dark colours of the vanilla armours. And the cost for duplicate the templates it's a little bit high, 6 diamonds for each one. It's like stealing.

Those are small details, but it would make the armor trims more specials. For the time of this comment, this was the first snapshot showing this feature, it still a primitive concept, and needs to evolve.
