Netherite upgrade template ruins the feel of minecraft, just make it require levels or something.

This feature is terrible, absolutely terrible, for multiplayer servers. This change would be completely fine if it was possible to obtain one outside of a bastion and they were craftable, regardless of how expensive the crafting recipe is. Even if it takes netherite blocks.

Structure loot has an inherant flaw of becoming a early bird only race for large scale servers and a gradual punishment for long term worlds that pushes the players foreward every time an update drops. The upgrade template has the same issue, which means a select few people will dominate in a server and the template won't be open for all. Even though you can clone it and hand the template over to another person, this will not happen in competative servers at all.

In order to solve this issue and the structure lot dilemma in general, you need to add something like monthly minibosses for each structure that respawn every full moon or whatever.

Bastions are sometimes hard to find i think there should be a feature to add a bastion area a bit more harder to get by but it still is easier to find?

Me,personally I think Minecraft should remove the netherite upgrade because it’s already pretty hard to get the netherite and you have to get the upgrade also . So I just think it’s a good to remove or make it spawn in the over world and the nether

If you’re gonna make netherite templates be a requirement to find to upgrade to netherite then I suggest either a make a bastion have 1 in a chest or just make it easier to find bastions if you don’t want to make it a guarantee in a single chest of a bastion that’s fine. I have a world I grind since the bee update was introduced I explored so much of my nether that it’s harder to find another one just to hope that I have luck and actually get it

    Hello there!
I feel like Netherite Upgrades are way too expensive, 7 diamonds is just simply too much to duplicate them in my opinion. 3 is alot more manageable. Maybe a game rule to set how many diamonds you need could work too! It'd make Minecraft even more customizable which is always a good thing.
Making Netherite Upgrades only available through Bastions is not a good idea as it makes getting one in a server that people have already raided a ton of bastions for frustrating and annoying since you'd have to venture very far for a chance of getting one. I suggest making it also available as a very rare Piglin trade, making it renewable, yet it would still keep it as a rare item.

Thank you for your time and have a good day!

This is some BULL. Trim pieces are spent when you use them, right? So what the glitch is this?????

I like the idea of needing something other than ancient debris to be able to upgrade, but upgrade templates are just too expensive, because netherite armor is better than diamond only because of the armor toughness and durability, which increases very little. Looting eight or nine bastions would probably destroy diamond armor, besides the fact that you have to find specifically a treasure bastion to be guaranteed. (who would fight through all those piglin brutes and find nothing in the chests?)  And I'm not getting enough diamonds for new leggings just to copy a template. They should be available from bartering at a very low percentage.

I like how you have to get something else other than netherite ingots and diamond armor or tools to upgrade, but upgrade templates are just too rare. I only get 3 hours a week if its not vacation and at max 1 hour a day. Netherite doesn't have that much more durability compared to diamond and netherite swords and axes do only ONE more point of damage per hit. Also, upgrade templates are really hard to copy. I would rather get some extra diamond leggings than a single upgrade template. If the point is to make bastions essential to advance, then make it so that brutes have a chance of dropping templates, like some other person said. Also make netherite armor and tools better compared to diamond. Instead of netherite swords doing one more point of damage than diamond, how about two? Not too op, just make the templates worth it.

Edit: I didn't notice my previous comment already posted, I thought it didn't because of a glitch. So don't think I'm copying the person above, because that's me

The upgrade is basically pointless for tools as it costs multiple tools worth of diamonds, thus better to just make diamond ones and better on the off chance you die and loose those tools as you can afford spares.
The tools themselves are no better in function than diamond anyway.

The armour on the other hand is kinda pointless as well, since bastions are the hardest structures in the game and you are likely to fully loot them while in diamond armour, leaving the upgrading of netherite armour of little use as you are unlikely to need to loot them further.

I think it's a great idea, but! I think they should be found in ruined portal chests because the piglin brutes would be a struggle and finding a bastion in the first place.

netherite upgrades will be really hard to get on servers for example on 5000 by 5000 blocks servers

Bastions are scary, and I found one, but it wasn't the right kind, so I have four netherite ingots, gathering dust in my base.

I think the way we have been reinforcing it is sufficient?

I agree with making netherite tools harder to obtain, but I disagree with requiring a large amount of diamonds to duplicate netherite upgrades.

I think that the recent update which add more diamonds to the world work perfectly with the new change because it will make the templates duplication easier : it's hard founding a lot of bastion to get the full stuff (9 templates and 1 more if 2 pickaxe)

I really like this update but it would be even cooler if you could find the Netherite Upgrade Smithing templates in other places too like Nether fortresses or maybe add new structures to the game where you can find the smithing templates also. Thanks for the devs for making this update tho it is really cool :)

I don't get this change. Netherrite was already so much grinding to get that it wasn't worth getting IMO. Now, it's even less worth getting.

I encourage mojang and microsoft to think about players that don't have endless hours to explore and grind. Perhaps there could be in-game items that help you locate bastions, and new mobility options that let you cover more ground in both the overworld and the nether quickly.

A somewhat seasoned casual player...I do not like the new requirement of a smithing template for creating netherite armor. It is time consuming enough to find ancient debris and create the ingots...the reward should be the armor. Now after spending hours mining for ancient debris, you're rewarded with....more hours of having to search the most dangerous place for the most dangerous structure to possibly get a template. Or not...perhaps you die and lose your debris in the process. Or all the diamond armor you were going to upgrade, plus all of your weapons and tools which were carefully upgraded so you could *unsuccessfully* survive the nether in the first place. Overall, just takes too much time...was borderline already, now just silly. If I spent all this time making the armor, then die and lose it...I'd probably stop playing minecraft altogether. No longer worth the risk...I think you'll see huge swaths of players give up on netherite entirely, going back to just using diamond for everything (myself included).

Minecraft has a wonderful variety of landscapes and resources. Netherite is pretty much the best one. Before the 1.20 update netherite was already a dangerous and stretched goal for those who only want a bit more buff. The netherite upgrade has the potential for many applications. However, it may cause players to skip netherite completely because of the risk of losing diamonds in the flaming wastes of the nether. Creating a full netherite set, without losing diamonds in the process, is nearly impossible. Advanced Minecraft players may have said that it needs to be more challenging, yet what about all the other players who just want to play a fun game? It is disappointing when there was already a set standard for getting netherite, then later the bar gets raised without adding anything useful. Instead of prolonging the player's ability to obtain netherite, make a new armour that requires that upgrade. Maybe something from the end to make super-powerful armour! That would keep netherite possible for being obtainable and creating something for the pro-Minecrafters.
I greatly respect Minecraft, but the upgrade takes the fun out of creating netherite armor.

I see that a lot of people liked the general armor trims that were added, but I still see a bit of a problem with the netherite upgrade trims. The problem with this trim is that it can only be used with netherite, which is essentially not bad. That's where my idea comes from
How about if the player could also use this upgrade mold to improve their armor? This way, the player would not be held hostage by having to wear diamond and netherite armor in the game.
One problem I see in Minecraft is that players always make the following evolution. Iron Armor -> Diamond Armor -> Netherite Armor. No one takes the time to wear full leather, gold and chain armor, as they don't have good defense, which is understandable for both parties, as players want higher defense, and Mojang can't increase the base defense of armor for no reason
My idea is that the upgrade molds would improve the weaker armor a few times, until it was at the level of Netherite armor. This way, it would be possible to achieve Mojang's objective, which would be for players to be able to each use their own armor in the game, having their own advantages with them, not needing to make leather or gold boots, as they are needed

It would be great, players using entire sets made of gold, others made of leather, everyone being able to fight each other, with their own individualities

For the developers' concern, I don't think it would be necessary to focus on armor levels. 1 or 2, with a prettier appearance, would be nice

This just makes playing the game annoying, it takes away the fun and the reward of getting diamonds and netherite. Many people I know have quit their worlds after finding out the new mechanic. It was fine before and this update was not necessary. Make useful updates instead of ones that make people want to not play it.
