I think armor trim is awesome! And I would love to see this mechanic to apply and to the elytra too!

The only think that make me skeptical about armor trim in the netherite, because is the most valuable material in the game I think a better way to coloring the trims will be the coal. Instead what about a special ability or feature like(the emerald trim to make villagers follow you and make better deals),(netherite to give you a small fire protection),(gold making piglins love you)...and many more possibilities that I'm sure there is to find out!

And last,a old idea that I have for years and is the bat to have a drop!upon killing a bat,the bat drops a NEW item called ''the bat wings"!With these, the feathers from the chickens and maybe one more new armor trim, the players will be able to customize there armor with the feathers and the bat wing!as well and the elytra, make the with feather like angel wings and with bat wings make them look like dragon wings! And these customize will give to the armor details like feathers on a helmet make it look like (Marcel's Thor helmet)or the bat wings on the boots to look like (demon like Armour)!

Thank you for your time to read this and i hope to give you a good idea for the next minecraft update!

Make it so you can untrim armor trims
So if you trimed the wrong pice of armor you can just untrim it.

It would be so cool if certain materials did certain things when wearing a complete set. For example, gold would not anger piglins, lapis would increase the chance of better enchants on enchantment tables, amythest would decrease the distance sculk sensors can detect you (ties in with the new amythest block functionality with sculk sensors), netherite would decrease knockback, etc.... I realize this might be difficult with some such as redstone, but there are thousands of people to generate ideas!

To echo what others have said, I would love to see this added to horse armor. It would also be awesome if we could turn diamond horse armor into netherite. Since the netherite system is being reworked, this seems like the perfect time to make this change.

I think armor trims should give more protection depending on which armor trim and more durability depending on the materials you use.

We should have custom armor for horses, and armor for wolves, customize tridents and swords.

I think the texture should represent the recipe a lot more. Something like a horshoe shape around the template would indicate that you need them to duplicate them.

ssa é uma ideia muito boa, mas as armaduras poderiam dar efeitos para o jogador desde de uma mais simples até um muito bom

Maybe reduce the diamond requirement so it wont feel to grindy or frustrating if you happen to lose that trimmed armour you worked so hard to get,

Great! But when will we be able to hide worn armor so we can see our purchased skins in survival worlds?

Make armor trims an infinite resource and remove the ability to copy like with banner patterns. The rarity of the armor trims should be to find them. First, they are expensive to copy (28 diamonds per armor set). Secondly, that armor trims are made of diamonds has no logical explanation. You can also add abilities to armor. For example trim from bastion remnant can pacify piglins brutes.

Armour trims are a scam and waste of time and resources. Running around the world for a cosmetic item is a stupid way to spend you time in minecraft, so what better than to make the cost of applying them to your armour so high that you don't even realise how ugly it looks. I'm dissapointed with useless updates like these and feel the quality of the game is dropping.

I like the armor trims. I have no problem with them, and it is quite difficult to make netherite tools and armor now, but that's how the game should be (difficult). The only problem I have is that when I trim it, it doesn't look good on small avatars. I'm just asking to make it look normal for all sizes on avatars.

The ability to obtain an Ender Dragon armor trim from an end-ship would go so hard.

I think it could be interesting if it was possible to color the whole armor, not only the trim, allowing players to wear a combination of colors, not only color x base-material, but color x base-color x base-material.

Please add the Echo Shard to the trim system. Unlike the Amethyst Shard, this one does not work. It would make a great addition to the trim system and would fit great with netherite armour!
    Please consider this.

Would be nice to have, but as long as duplication of the templates costs diamonds, these templates will just end up thrown in some storage chest to gather dust.

Diamonds shouldn’t be used in a consumable fashion like this. Want to give more use to diamonds? Let’s talk stairs, slabs, cut/chiseled/smooth/whatever variants to decorate with. As blocks diamonds may not be renewable, but they at least remain reusable. If I wanted to burn diamonds quickly, finding a nearby pit of lava would be so much simpler.

Ditto for the netherite upgrade template. Seems silly to change the cost so dramatically for the upgrade long after introducing the itself. It is particularly unfair to newer players in older worlds. I don’t mind the idea that you have to raid a bastion to gain the ability to upgrade in the first place as I never felt too compelled to actively seek one out before.

I was really looking forward to personalizing gear, but consumable templates just makes this the next phantom in my mind. Seriously, why even give us the option to trim leather/iron/chain/gold armor if it’s going to cost diamonds to duplicate the templates?

Also bear in mind that exploration is not free on realms. Forcing too much of it on a world easily leads to the size growing to the point of failure. In other words, further exploration to find additional copies of templates to burn is not a sustainable alternative and is actually quite harmful. Strip mining for diamonds has a similar effect.

It would be awesome to have two things for this.

    1. It would be awesome if this also was on horse armor. (Of which the next thing would apply.)

    2. Armor trims could have different effects, such as emerald armor trims giving you villager discounts, or gold armor trims making it so piglins don't attack you.

Make it so we can layer a second armor trim with a different material or the same material.
