It should be possible to give the trims a custom color. Not just the ones from the materials.

The armor should have a value like TrimColor where you can set a custom hex color

The recipe and look of the smithing template in my opinion doesn’t make much sense. One thing that could make more sense is instead of crafting it with a netherack block in the middle you should be able to craft it with a piece of magma cream, since it could stick the netherite to the diamond armor, and also give netherite it’s fire proof functionalities, considering the fact that magma cream is used in fire resistance potions. I think it should be renamed too, something more fitting to the lore of the game.

Needing to find a Netherite Upgrade Template completely NERFs netherite gear and I don’t like it. It’s hard enough to get all the ancient debris and gold necessary to upgrade to netherite, and now I’ll have to go through the tedious process of trying to find a Treasure Bastion and getting that Netherite Upgrade Template. I’ve never been good at looting bastions, especially when there are Piglin Brutes all over the place. If this new step added to the process of upgrading to netherite gear is added, at least make the templates completely reusable so I don’t have to spend my diamonds all the time.

I think that duplicating the trims needs to scale somehow with whatever armor your going to put it on. For example if I want to trim leather instead of using diamond to copy a trim I could use leather to duplicate it but then I can only put that copied trim on leather, this can apply for all armor types. I think this will encourage putting trim on other gear besides diamond and netherite. If it's too expensive to trim anything lower (gold, iron, leather) then people won't do it. But don't get me wrong I'm LOVING this idea of armor trim and am so excited to see it fully fleshed out!

The way you guys at Mojang are trying to make netherite gear rarer is implemented completely wrong. We’re gonna have to avoid dying when there are many piglin brutes that can kill you in two hits just to get the Netherite Upgrade Template, and then have to duplicate it multiple times using an unreasonable amount of diamonds and netherite just to get full netherite armor. I’m fine with having to obtain the template, but please make it spawn in Nether Fortresses and in higher numbers, and please make them reusable. I think the best way to NERF the netherite gear is to just require one more netherite ingot when upgrading from Diamond, so that it’s two ingots required instead of the current one. Another thing you could do is change the crafting recipe for netherite ingots, maybe require 5 netherite scraps and 4 gold ingots instead of 4 of each. Right now, having to obtain and expensively duplicate the Netherite Upgrade Templates is limiting the possibility of netherite to an end-game achievement, and new players on an online server will never be able to upgrade, because people are selfish. The current implementation of the netherite gear NERF is too much, and a different way needs to be thought of how to do it.

Instead of finding template trims which to me lore wise makes no sense I think it'd be a better system if just visiting the structure gave you inspiration on how to craft the trim. Like how walking into water tells you how to craft a boat.

Hi guys, I quite like the mechanics as they are however I do have one issue with the armour trimming system and that's the way it interacts with resource packs, namely custom ones, the only real suggestion I would have is that perhaps the base layer version of the armour should be a separate model for the game.

i.e the base form of the armour you can equip can have a resource pack so for example iron_layer_1 would be the regular armour with no trim with whatever resource pack you would like and instead the trimmed version base would be iron_layer_trimmed_1 that way people can enjoy both their own custom armour packs AND the trimmed packs without unnecessary compromise.

I think armor trims are too rare, and I think armor trims should be able to be used multiple times, not disposable items

Hello, in my opinion echo shard should be able to be put on armour, and horse armour should have patterns.

Hello I love to have some designs on armor and also add netherite horse armor and I would also like to have the java combat system into bedrock edition too!

i loved the ribs pattern, but there's one problem with it, it's too dark, so a new feature that would be cool is to have an optional slot in the smithing table menu, where you can put a black dye to make the trims darker, this way you could use the ribs patter with the current dark color, or with the a lighter color

this would double to armor prossibilities and also add a new option in case someone want to have all the trims darker

For what it does, trims are too expansive, also rather giving more use to diamonds, give the template crafting to a item that doesn’t have as many recipes or things to do with, like amethyst or copper or emeralds or echo shards.

Add a invisible armor trim, this would make your armor invisible, I’m tired of having to bury my skins under armor, it kinda defeats the purpose of having custom skins if you have to wear armor in survival all the time. Obviously for pvp purposes, there should be a way to turn this recipe off or add some kind of indicator.

Please keep trim cosmetic only, I don’t want to have to choose between trims because they give me special bonuses, I want to pick ones that I actually like simply because I think they’re cool.

Add a plated armor trim template, this way you can completely cover your armor with a color and not just a part. Ex: red stone plated armor is completely red. This Is a work around to actually making more armor types based on every ore.

Esteticamente è bellissimo ma secondo me se non si vuole fare una nuova armatura più potente si potrebbe fare che le rifiniture potenziassero l'armatura in base alla pietra

I like the customization of armor, but I don’t want the armor to get any stronger, after all, minecraft is already too easy, even on hard mode

    1. As many have already pointed out Armor Trims are very expensive. So instead of the seven diamonds, how about one diamond in the middle and seven of the block around it. This would even make sense considering how the smithing template looks.

    2. The armor trims for leather armor make no sense as it breaks really quickly and spending diamonds on cosmetic that breaks in 10 hits isn't a great idea. So instead of being able to use armor trims, players can use banner patterns and dyes. Banner patterns wouldn't be consumed and the old item will get a new feature. The banner patterns shouldn't just print whatever the print on the banners though. They should be some unique patterns that make sense with their name.

we need it to add stats to the armor so that it is even more interesting and that there is interest in putting this or that armor trims

Armor trims stink! I have to look for one more item to get my netherite armor! It doesn't feel right in minecraft, and the recipe for duplicating smithing templates looks like it was made by a 7-year old! Please remove it and put in flies and fireflies instead!

I would like it better if the smithing table UI had an armor/tool slot on the far left side. It would then fork into two more slot options: Upgrade and Trim. If you put a greater material than the armor or tool is made of in the Upgrade slot it will allow you to upgrade the armor or tool to the next tier of power. If you put a material in the Trim slot it will open a box with all the patterns (similar to the stonecutter) so you can choose which one you want.
