This is a good opportunity to add the trim removal option for the grindstone, and/or possibly rewamp the grindstone along the way, because nobody really uses it for repairs.

I think copying the Templates feel a bit wrong maby don't let players Copy the Templates but players can find them way more often
I don't think that Its to hard or they are too expensive bc U don't have to make them U don't need them and IT feels cool to Go through the world and search for the templates

I think that they should maybe add some trims to tools aswel, but then only like 2-3 patterns since tools don't really have that many pixel that they could alter. Same goes for horse armor and shields, although I do think that shield with a certain material type trim should maybeee get additional benefits, but the horse armor should stay the same, no additional benefits. and mayby do something with the elytra to customize it. But maybe not with armor trims as the elytra is more of like a cloth in my eyes, or some naturel wings. So the elytra shouldn't work with trims, but maybe something else. And keep up the good work mojang, with all these super creative designs, I already mixed and matched my favorute patterns and all the materials.

In an update with so much focus on self expression & making the game your own, I would love to see some alternative methods for Peaceful players to acquire the Tide armor trim (as it would be 100% inaccessible via Elder Guardians), the Spire armor trim (as it would be 99.9% inaccessible without blaze rods or powder), and the Eye armor trim (as finding a stronghold in Vanilla without eyes of ender is so unlikely).

I love my peaceful worlds & am most comfortable in them, and I imagine there is a long list of reasons why other people might be playing in peaceful (perhaps as a safeguard set by parents, for instance) and it is very frustrating seeing so many new features being locked out for Peaceful.

I'm quite excited otherwise to expand my armor collection & explore different combinations of trims and how to use them, thank you.

    Hi!

Love seeing the new armor trims...

Tried them and loved almost everything. When I tested the copper trim on the netherite armor I was a little disappointed with how the diamond shined but copper felt so dull….

might be an improvement to make the copper shine a bit :)

Can you make it that the new option for glint strength is default at 50% and if you slide it to 100%, you have the old enchantment glint from pre 1.19.4? I think that would be very useful

I love the idea of armour trims but I’m not sure about duping them. I don’t like the fact you need a ‘smithing template’ to upgrade to netherite

Hello, I have some suggestions to do :

    1) It could be very cool to personalize, craft, and enchant horse armors.

    2) Personalizing is too expensive. Maybe you can replace every ingot of minerals with dyes (by example, replacing netherite ingots with black dye or coal to change the color). It's only personalization, it's not something very important that can change our gameplay or that can save us from death.

    3) Maybe you can reduce the price of duplication of templates (maybe with less diamonds ? Or another less expensive item ?)

    Edit :

    4) Armors / clothes for dogs ? Craftable saddle ?

What if it were possible, through the templates and the blacksmithing table, to mix different types of blocks? What if it was possible to create drawings of the items, whether it's just the outline or the exact drawing of any item? For example, create drawings of iron bars on blocks, or any other item? Can you imagine how cool it would be, for example, to mix blocks of stone and wood, or lapis lazuli and sandstone? What if it were possible to replicate the designs of chiseled blocks in other blocks through templates? And if it were possible to create other designs in the blocks with the templates?

I really hope the 7 diamond cost for duplication remains the same. It gives diamonds some much needed value in the late game and also makes finding multiple of the same smithing template feel worthwhile. I agree that early game trimming should be more accessible, but a better way to do that is by making some templates easier to find in chests. This also has the benefit of making some trims easier to use but not others, allowing for the distinction between "common" and "rare" trims.

Minecraft did us a favor with the Amortrimps. But it would also be awesome if it could exist for the Elytra and for horse armor. Can you add that you can craft horse armor like leather horse armor only with the materials they are made of

My problem with the netherite upgrade is that, as you need to allready have one to copy it, and  on multiplayer servers, all the bastions within a 1000 blocks would be raided within the first in-game day, new players would have no wayy to actually upgrade their armor to netherite, probably ever. Giving the players who got on the server first, and/or are probably allready better at the game an unfair advantage against newer players. I'd make the item craftable, maybe expensive,  but none the less craftable, or scrap it all together, and instead make the netherite armor be crafted from the netherite ingots instead of being an upgrade of diamond. That way, you could make netherite armor more expensive to craft, wich could even be amplified by tweaking the netherite ingot recipe need more scraps. Maybe this is an other way to slow people down from geting netherite too early in the game. But having to locate and take on a bastion, or multiple ones, possibly thousands of blocks away to get netherite seems unfair towards less experienced players. Also since  netherite crafting has gold in it, it could be seen by piglin as gold armor (maybe just if you have the full set, for ballance).

The armor trims should require a less expensive/rare material to duplicate as they are purely for cosmetics.  Netherite changes are all good.  Some form of Elytra customization other than capes would fit in very well with the trims.

You could add a Elytra Upgrade Trim with which you can put your chestplate + Elytra as material to make a Chestplate combined with a elytra

Armor Trims need buffs depending on what trim and ore you use!

all in all i think this is an overall well-made and thought out addition to the game! i love the customization it provides, and i appreciate that it encourages more exploration of your world.

that said, i think the rarity and cost of these templates needs some serious balancing. as it stands, the likelihood of finding templates being about 5% across the board means that many trim options are all but locked away from more casual players. i myself am not a particularly casual player, but i still don't like grinding, and when i was younger and played more casually, i can tell you for certain i wouldn't wanna find and loot 20 mansions or spend 7 diamonds for every extra template i want after i manage to find just one vex template to clone.

my suggestion is this; give templates durability (4 uses each seems fair), and/or make the cloning recipe cheaper or make it a repair recipe instead. atm the difference in cost between giving my starter set of iron armour matching trim and just making a set of diamond armour is only about 6 diamonds (assuming i don't want to make a spare template to clone from later, which would make new better armour the cheaper option), which isn't at all worth it. maybe copper ingots to clone templates from more common structures (would love more uses for copper), iron ingots to clone templates from moderately rare structures, and gold ingots to clone templates from incredibly rare structures like strongholds and mansions would make this cost more accessible.

I think it's a good idea if you put the armor's glint as before, because we have the new option "glint strength", which allows each one to change it to their preference

First of all I want to say that the armor trims are great.

Like many, I find the recipe too expensive.
My suggestion would be that in exchange for a template and smarate, the armorer would copy the template (as the last unlocked trade).
Also, he shouldn't sell diamond armor anymore, so the diamonds will increase in value again.
Maybe even without enchantment, because only the librarian has it?

I think that taking advantage of the oxidized copper as a strange texture in the armor adorned with copper, if archeology is reached, some material could be added to enable the duplication of the designs, for example a chisel or something similar and add a special work table , that object would be easy to obtain and could be used to create villagers with a designer job, able to sell you exclusive designs or buy the designs you don't want for a generous amount of emeralds apart from selling exclusive predesigned armor with a single color, in question from the netherite upgrade he could change his crafting from netherrock to netherrack brick, a small change but one that makes sense of the item's texture.

We should also have the ability to remove trims from armor without having to replace it. Just have the armor become trim less again.
This is especially useful when you have enchanted armor and want to take the trim off

Armor trims are good, but since the entire premise of this update is self expression i have one suggestion.

Armor trims in gameplay for leather armor, chain armor, iron armor and gold armor will be practically nonexistant in normal gameplay since these kinds of armors are comparatively useless to diamond

in order to increase our ability to express ourselves, what about adding a "Armor upgrade" that will allow us to upgrade our older armor to have the resistance, defense and durability equal to diamond / netherite?

this would allow players to have far more options to express which armor they want to use without being forced to sacrifice defense in exchange for fashion, and it would make things like leather armor with the combined customeability of dyes + trims far more prominent and extremely for for self expression.

If u guys want people to use more diamond armor why find a good reason in creative way instead of going backwards and being lazy with this new netherite upgrade. I will make it clearly. There is no reason at all to change how netherite upgrade works. Dont force a bad idea on the players. Minecraft is a game where people are free to play the game the way they want and thats is what make the game unique. So please stop forcing bad mechanics on us. Netherite upgrade is just fine the way it is.

it would be nice if the rib trim and the warden face on the ward trim were brighter — i can’t see them very well unless i’m using a netherite trim!

Maybe can we test around with finally giving villagers Armor or at least just the leather Armor. This can allow us to really customize the villagers and a side benefit for raids they’ll have a little more defense. They don’t need weapons just cosmetic armor.

I think it would be really nice if we could do something similar to Elytra!

For a lot of players, the Elytra is the most used item in the game, so it would be really nice if you could personalize it!

The Elytra does already have some different textures with capes, but only a small fraction of the playerbase has access to a cape, and even then, you don't get to customize it yourself!
