Magic and unique items

Minecraft is lacking magic and unique weapons. Magic can only be seen in the form of witches and potions. The only unique weapons I would say are the trident and the crossbow. I think that Minecraft missed a gigantic opportunity to add more magic after they added the amethyst. Which as far as I know, has no real use. Amethyst could’ve been used to craft a magic staff, which maybe could’ve used XP as a kind of ammo. Copper which was added alongside amethyst, could’ve been used to craft some kind of new sword which would put an electric status effect onto mobs that have been hit with it. Maybe copper could’ve been used to craft new armor, that would’ve also had some kind of electric properties. Maybe even emerald, diamond, or gold could be used to craft jewelry, which would be used to give benefits like faster regeneration or strength. This is basically all that I have thought of after playing Minecraft for 2 days. I just wish that I wouldn’t have to use a sword or bow every time I’m in combat.
