So, this idea first came to me when I started a new world, was low on wood, then accidentally shift clicked them all into sticks before I made a crafting table.
Ramshackle wood blocks would be craftable from four sticks put in a 2x2 and would give you 2 ramshackle wood planks. They would look run-down, scrappy, and generally of low quality.
Each individual plank in the block would have slightly different hues of brown to reflect how they could be made of any tree type.
Ramshackle planks could be used to make fences, signs, boats, all the wood blocks. However, to emphasize the low-quality nature of the wood, signs would sit slightly askew, boats would sink a little lower into the water (letting a little bit of water be visible in the bottom of the boat), and all the blocks would have lower durability than the other wood types.
Adding a run-down looking wood type would be good for building anything you want to look old, ruined, or postapocalyptic, the slightly tilted sign and slightly sunk boat would also assist in this and be good for adventure maps. Ramshackle wood would also help the players that accidentally shift click all their planks away into sticks (me).
Also, because dead bushes drop sticks when broken, starting in the desert is no longer the worst thing ever.
I went back and forth on the name of the wood set, like scrap wood or derelict wood, I'm not super happy with ramshackle wood, if you have better ideas, please comment them below. (:
