When you are making your redstone suggestions, please note that Java and Bedrock will not have the exact same the same redstone systems - this would require redoing redstone system completely on one platform or the other. The two systems are functionally different and are going to stay that way. Please be sure to tag your suggestions with (Java) or (Bedrock).

Observers

I think that observers should send out a pulse when anything happens in front of the face of the observer e.g players, items dropping and minecarts and boats being placed down in front of the face of the observer.

    you can put a string Infront of the face to detected entities.

    A string in front of an observer will make it “see” a player. A pressure plate can detect items. Detector rails detect minecarts. Not sure about the boats, but I imagine the string in front of observer works as well.
    I see where you are coming from, but if an observer could observe all these things, all the time, they would be a massive hassle to work with, trying to avoid “being seen” as you are hoping around in your redstone wiring.
