To show the player whether the locomotive's Left Signaler and Right Signaler is switched on or off some kind of indicator shall be present.
When the player is sitting in the driver's cart and is looking over the locomotive, there can be spots at the right and left corners of the locomotive which are showing the 'switch state' of a signaler. E.g. if a corner is white the signaler is switched off. If a corner is red, the signaler is switched on.
In addition to that, in the 'combustion menu' there should be two symbols showing the 'switch status' of each signaler as well.
With the combination of the double-sided switching from the two opposite sides of a Railroad Switch, the Railroad Sensor, the Left and Right Signaler on a locomotive and the signaler indications, the remote-controlling of Railroad Switches while running a train is very simple. With a very simple redstone build the player can choose the direction over a Railroad Switch when running towards it without having to know in which switching state the Railroad Switch currently is.
