The new item 'Railroad Sensor' is for the locomotive to trigger an action.
The crafting could be:
In any of the three columns from top to bottom: Iron Ingot, Stick, Redstone Dust
The crafted Rail Sensor can look similar to a single fence pole with a small iron head.
With introducing the Railroad Sensor the locomotive (a 1-unit, 2-unit or 3-unit) needs another function. To the locomotive two 'Signaler' will be added. There is a 'Left Signaler' and a 'Right Signaler'.
While sitting in the Driver's Cart the player can switch on and off the locomotive's 'Left Signaler' with the 'Strafe Left' key and the 'Right Signaler' with the 'Strafe Right' key.
A Rail Sensor placed directly along the track can receive a signal from a locomotive's switched on Signaler. This signal can be transported via a redstone trail just as from any other redstone power component (Button, Lever, ...) to the Railroad Switch. When a Signaler is turned on, then it will activate a Railroad Sensor if the locomotive passes this sensor. The Railroad Sensor will be then active for approx. 1-2 seconds, such like a Button.
Each 1-unit, 2-unit or 3-unit locomotive has one 'Left Signaler' and one 'Right Signaler'. When sitting in the 'driver's cart' the player can toggle on and off:
- the 'Left Signaler' with the 'Strafe Left' key
- the 'Right Signaler' with the 'Strafe Right' key
