A Netherite Counterpart: Deepsteel

Netherite (and armor) as a concept has become very progressive, with little to no choice being made. Why choose iron when there’s diamonds out there, inherently more powerful. However, this post proposes that by combining 4 amethyst shards with a rare ore found only in the deepslate layer called deepsteel. It would, when mined with a diamond pickaxe, drop impure deepsteel, which when smelted into deepsteel scraps and combined with amethyst, be able to enhance diamond armor into deepsteel armor. This armor would provide the same protection as Netherite, but provide a slight addition to damage. This would provide a reason to choose between armor types, adding further depth to the system.
