The Microsoft Account Migration Guide could use some expansion to explain to players who, like myself, haven't played Minecraft in years and are unfamiliar with the Windows Store and Xbox app infrastructure that the new Minecraft launcher relies upon. Returning players should NOT have to spend over an hour troubleshooting why they can't log in to their Minecraft launcher after migration, with error code 0x8007005: Deep ocean.
Suffice to say, I recently migrated my account and could not log in to the launcher afterwards. Google searches and Minecraft's own migration guide left me troubleshooting for over an hour. I don't use Microsoft Store for anything and didn't have any Microsoft apps installed, and my unfamiliarity with that infrastructure lead me to mistakenly believe simply having the Minecraft launcher was all you needed to run the game, just like the old launcher. As I figured out, you in fact need to have the Xbox app installed as well as all of its dependencies in order to log in.
My hope is only that this information becomes more readily available for future migrators who encounter the same issue.
