I propose a new system that allows the player to gain favor with different factions.
Villagers will start higher, but instead of attacking you if you displease them, they will just leave.
Killing villagers makes you look more like a monster, raising your reputation with the zombies. if you look enough like them, the zombie variants will not attack you, but skeletons, creepers, and spiders belong to no faction and will always attack you.
Pillagers will be very difficult to please, maybe requiring lots of emeralds or something stolen from a village. maybe you could trade with them like villagers if you gain their favor.
Piglins will need gold, obviously, and gaining their favor will make the nether safer, losing it will make the nether more dangerous.
Endermen will be different. Perhaps the only way to gain their favor would be by killing the ender dragon, as though they didn't like it or it was an unwanted guest in their realm.
In multiplayer, each player could go a different route if they want. But only one player can gain the favor of the endermen by landing the final blow on the dragon.
I really want this because it would make mobs more interesting and allow the player to connect with them a little more. it would also open up various pathways to the endgame, depending on the faction you join. and there will still be plenty of threats to the player as raising favor with one faction will also lower favor with another.
