Fill Buckets in the rain for bedrock and java.

If you hold/drop a bucket in the rain, it will fill up after ~2-5 minutes. this could also be done with snow, for powdered snow.

    Cauldrons already kind of do this. And as an item, buckets can stack, which would cause problems, especially if your inventory is full (I know, it would only do it when held but still). It would also be frustrating to have an empty bucket you don't want filled to get filled with water or powder snow when it rains.

    I initially expected part of the suggestion was to have placeable buckets. Even so, cauldrons have this exact purpose.
