Here's a feature that could be added,
So apparently in real life, you can somehow compress coal to get a diamond. In saying that, this could be in-game. If you make a coal block and break it, you’d have a small chance of getting a “Coal Diamond”, which you have to make a brush of some sort to dust off the coal (or else it can't be used in crafting). After this, you can then use the diamond in the crafting grid (or anywhere else). This feature may help speedrunners and add a little bit of realism to Minecraft without removing it's fictional side.
