Ores in clay, dirt and mud

Players don't have to go into the rocky depths to get some minerals. Iron, copper and even gold can be found in sedimentary layers.

    could be a fun way to get a nugget every once in a while, which they would have to make for copper. It has mixed effects you get some random filling of your inventory but at the same time they are somewhat useful compared to the source blocks which you have tons of.

    I think this can be balanced by having denser rooted earth under each tree to make quarrying in the sedimentary layers a bit more difficult.

    also gravel. it could be nuggets or raw ores (or a smaller raw ore?), so you could get some metal items without caving, though it would be incredibly slow and mining would be much more efficient.
