Coyotes are small omnivorous canids that live in Western North America. They live in a variety of different habitats, like deserts and mountains. Western coyotes are smaller than those in the east, because the Eastern Coyote, Canis Latrans, of the Eastern U.S. and Canada is not actually a full coyote, but a hybrid of a coyote and a wolf. Western coyotes mostly eat small mammals, like rabbits, but occasionally prey on larger animals. In Minecraft, they should spawn in deserts, plains, badlands, and taigas. They could eat rabbits and berries. They have tan-grey coats, and they look somewhat like wolves. They are smaller than wolves but larger than foxes. While they can live in packs, they also live alone or in pairs. They would act similarly to foxes. They would prefer to get meat that is just lying around than hunt their own. Wolves would attack coyotes, as wolves hate coyotes for stealing meat from their kills.
