I think it just feels so wrong to see something so common irl be completly absent from this game with SO MUCH variety, and it specially annoys me the fact that our good 'ol friend education edition has salt, and even then it is SO underused, in fact it doesn't have ANY use, so why not change that?
Salt should come from crystalized salt blocks, found on a new biome called "Salt Desert" and rarely found as patches in rivers and oceans, the patches would also be common to appear in stony peaks.
Crystalized salt blocks would be mineable with stone or above pickaxes, and should either drop the block themselves if you use silk touch, or powdered salt if broken normally; The powdered salt should be craftable into powdered salt blocks (wich can be converted back into powdered salt). Powdered salt would be placeable on the ground like a carpet to prevent snow layers to generate, it should melt in 10 minecraft days turning invisible; They along with powdered salt blocks should break when water flows into them.
Pink salt is the same thing, but only found in mountain biomes, being rarer on the bottom and common on the top.
Texture-wise powdered salt should also be like sugar, pink salt varients would be all the same but with a salmon tint to them.
PS-This post expands in the post Salt Deserts
Tell me if there's anything i should add ;D
