  Yes, but you need to create artificial intelligence support for the blind effect, otherwise the mobs will not react.
  In older versions, mobs saw invisible players.

  Having blindness as an effect in the player's arsenal would be indeed quite neat, but you'd also need a brewing recipe for that effect. Problem is, the logical path of "corrupting" a night vision potion with a fermented spider eye is already taken up by the invisibility potion.

  Maybe ink sacks could find another use here by being the brewing ingredient for blindness potions.
