Currently the armor protection is a function of the damage itself: the greater the damage, the lesser is the protection offered, but this works only for very large amount of damage
Combined with the extremely fast regeneration offered by saturation, duels become very long...
To resolve this problem, I suggest a new armor mechanic: Armor Breaking
Each tier would have a value, alngside its protection and toughness value, called Armor Resistance
When taking damage, the damage would be compared to the total Armor Resistance: if it's greater or equal, the armor loses 0.5 of Armor Protection and the damage is reset; if not, then the value is kept, and when another hit is taken, all the kept values are summed together, and checked again
The protecion loss isn't permanent: when at least 50% of the durability lost is regain (using an anvil, Mending or a grindstone), the armor regains all its Protection points lost
This mechanic would make battles much faster, since the longer it goes, the damage taken increases, so it becomes easier to finish the fight
