Village Finder

What I would like most in Minecraft is a Way to find villages easily in survival mode. One of the most common issues I have when starting a new games is finding a village to use as home base, and I think most players (especially new users) would appreciate being able to find a place to trade and call home. How I think this could best work is similar to the use of ender pearls to find strongholds, that being say a paper airplane that when thrown points you in the direction of the nearest village.
