So I just watched Minecraft Live and the Sniffer won so here is an Idea for it. So the Sniffer is an ancient mob that was once a part of minecrafts eco system. All of the sniffers died and what do some Mobs do when they die? They turn undead. So my Idea is to add a skeleton sniffer to the nether. The Smeller would have an Aura of bad smell around it that gives the players and some mobs around it the bad smelling effect. It slowly damages them until they die if players or mobs go away from the bad smelling area that gave them the effect, it goes away. Smellers would either be neutral or passiv. The Point of Smellers would mostly be to watch them from a far distance until they sniff rare items out of the ground. If the player stays near the Smeller and waits for the items there he would die to the effect since you have to wait quite a while until the Smeller begins to sniff. The Smeller could also be a Skeleton supporter in the nether, making the skeletons more unique there. Skeletons could maybe spawn with the Smeller as a Jockey or the Skeletons walk to the Smellers. Since they are also undead they cant smell and therefore are immune to the bad smelling effect. This means that the player has two options. He can either kill the skeleton the normal way but he would get damaged by the effect or the player attacks the Skeleton with a bow or crossbow. Maybe Sniffers could turn into Smellers in the Nether or when struck by lightning. I imagine Smellers would be very hard to find.
