After watching Minecraft Live and looking and researching some info for the upcoming update, I now know that one of the themes in the update is focused around representation. I think one of the best ways to have representation is to add mobs native to countries of minorities.
Ostrich’s, vultures, and meerkats are one of the examples of animals that are already planned that are native to one of these countries (namely Africa) but there are other animals that would be unique or interesting to add like African elephants which are symbols of strength or power in Africa.
Minecraft Legends already has an animal that is similar to its real counterpart, but tigers like the bengal tiger which can represent the Indian subcontinent via giving said animal features that relates to their culture.
There are of course more creatures native to countries of minorities that have little to zero representation in media, but that could maybe be changed in the update or in the future.
