"back-burner" features -
Minecraft should dedicate an entire update to adding all of the promised features in which they have yet to release. This includes features such as: Archaeology, Birch forest improvements, Combat update (1.8), Bundles, Fletching, etc...
Why This should be a priority -
Mojang/Microsoft does not have to add every promised feature, however they should focus on the important ones. Players have been upset lately with the updates. And as a Minecrafter it is hard to see the community as so. This update would help Minecraft catch up with the community and would help with the controversy.
Positive for Minecraft, the Minecraft Community, Mojang, and Microsoft -
With the implementation of these features, not only would the Minecraft Community be happier because they will feel like Minecraft is actually listening to what they say, but the popularity, sales, and reviews of the game will have a more positive outlook as well.
Branding -
If Mojang/Microsoft are to actually execute this update, they would not have to call it "back-burner update", they could come up with something more commercially appealling such as "Additional Update".
Transparency and trust -
Mojang/Microsoft should make sure to be clear and honest about how they will update the game to prevent any confusion within the Minecraft Community. If they show a feature, they should immediately specify whether or not if it is going to be added to the game. They could easily say, "It may become a feature".
