Since the redstone torch no other logic block has been given a light value despite looking like they have torches in them. This is for good reason, extra calculations on blinking logic can have huge impact on performance. I feel powered redstone should be thought of like glow ink, glowing in the dark but not actually changing the light value.
Potential counter argument to my suggestion:
- Builders need it for low lighting. -There are other options at this point. A secondary feature should not have such huge impact on its primary function. Also there are new building options with it this way, for example, imagine two glowing red eyes blinking in pure darkness
Benefits to implementation:
- Redstone component logical consistency for new players. No other component has lighting even though they visually have torches in them.
- No constant lighting updates on flashing logic circuits. (Server performance boost)
