Villager/Town Guards

Iron Golems have been around forever in Minecraft, to guard villagers and villages, but lets face it, they arent very useful, or even worthwhile. And apart from this, if you want to create a town or secure a village, there arent any options for humanoid guards! I propose that Villagers should be abke to be turned into guards via a profession like the farmers and whatnot, so that we can finally live out our medieval or fantasy town life with the proper immersion. Side note, it would also be cool if theyre tools/armor could be customizable by them picking up an item and equipping it, similar to what already exists for skeletons and zombies.
