The build: Same as a hopper but with a copper ingot in the top row, middle spot (Could also replace the top two iron ingots with copper ingots). The completed item would operate similar to a regular hopper (same placement rules for where the output faces, etc.). The item would open an inventory menu in the same way as a regular hopper, except in menu would have only one slot. Players would place an item in that slot, and the hopper would then only allow exact match items to pass through it.
*Alternate: The inventory menu would look the same as a regular hopper. However, the first slot would have a copper frame. That spot would be where the item is placed to determine what gets sorted. All other slots can accumulate extras of that same item, but cannot accept any other items.
Purpose: Minecraft has gotten exceedingly heavy in the sheer number of items that exist in the game. This will allow players to spend more time using said items creatively through the simplified organization of accumulated items.
