Pacification Monolith for Realms play

Our family has a Realm that we play together, but we can never all agree on what difficulty level to set the game on. I like to play on Hard because I think the game is too boring to play at any lower difficulty level. My wife doesn't like to play on any level above Peaceful because she just wants to build and farm. My kids like to play on one of the middle difficulties because they don't like dealing with tons and tons of random creepers and they don't like that every zombie breaks down doors in villages. One thing that would unite the tribe would be a special structure you could build which would change the hostile mob spawning rules for that area to a lower difficulty level. Build another one in the area and it would knock down another level all the way down to full pacification. This would keep the peace. I hate playing in multiple worlds, but I also hate Peaceful mode.

I came in to post the same idea. Even making it work like a Beacon that the larger you build it, the stronger the effect was part of what I wanted to suggest.
