Sugar gliders will be a rare passive/tame able mob that will lead you to structures if you give it honey how do you find these lovely birds? Bees these birds love anything sweet so they would spawn near bee hives and would be tamed with a bottle of honey and how you get them to find structures if you give them a block they will fly to the nearest undiscovered structure but you may need lots of honey blocks because when there tired from the flight they will need rest and some more honey.
In real life suger gligers follow honey badgers to get honey if a honey badger was added it could help show you where different biomes are. it would have the same need where you give it honey and it shows you the direction the biomes is then climb on your back to ride around on you like a back pack this would be kind of fun because you would have 2 new adventuring buddys. i understand only adding one of these it seems like these would be hard to implement into the game.
