Hire villagers to fight against mobs

Would it be possible to hire villagers who doesn´t have a job or proffession? In order to fight against mobs and raids, you could give them suitable items: sword, armour and so on. They would be called as soldiers and they would act in a same way as the iron golem when the village is being attacked.

    Villagers are not allowed to fight. They are pacifists. Villagers have been rejected as warriors.
