Ancient Cities need to be easier to find in survival mode

Every time I use the /locate command, the nearest ancient city is at least 1000 blocks away. Given that most people don't spend much time traveling underground at y level -40, the odds of stumbling on one one in survival are almost none. Either they need to have some above ground indicator (maybe a skulk vein that travels up to the surface?), a way to pinpoint its exact location, such as a locator map, or they need to be much more common.

    deep dark biomes normally spawn under mountains, just go down deep caves near or on mountains until you see skulk
