I'm confident there are still players who exist that are unaware that Llamas can form caravans in order to transport items and people. Its a very interesting mechanic but it is sadly obsolete compared to the other methods of moving items around especially with the recent addition of chest boats. Here are some ideas to make them more usable even in endgame.
Llamas could fill the role of "land boat's" by allowing any mob that can ride in a boat to also ride Llamas when simply pushed into the them like you would a boat. They will ride their back and can be removed from their back by attempting to ride the Llama yourself, this will boot the current mob off. This could be used to transports mobs such as villagers long distances on land to where ever you want to take them, you could even take multiple mobs at once by forming a caravan with the mounted Llamas. Only tamed Llamas will let mobs mount them and other Llamas will never mount other llamas.
Llamas being leaded will follow the player much more aggressively to not break the lead and llamas following the main llama will always be capable of matching their speed, you should never have to look back constantly to be sure they are still following. If the player is on a horse the Llamas should also be capable of matching the horses speed. Llamas will not need to "jump" up blocks but will always slide up them like horses do.
Llamas could also visually indicate they are in a caravan by having a fake lead be shown in between llamas.
