Replacing Iron in redstone recipes

Although there are some suggestions similar to this one, I don't see anything that is going for exactly what I am. I think all iron in the majority of redstone recipes should be replaced with copper because in the real world copper is a common element used for wiring. Currently iron is one of the most important resources in the game and is used in a ton of recipes. In comparison copper does not seem to have too many uses yet so it would be nice to see copper take on some of iron's previous uses.
