The warden is an excellent addition to Minecraft. The sonic boom attack was definitely a needed improvement, but I feel that the warden without its sonic boom attack can still fill a niche that nothing else could better.
I propose that there should be a data field (similar to "IsBaby" and others) exclusive to wardens which can enable or disable the warden's ability to use the sonic boom attack (and would necessarily also change the mob's AI as to whether or not to consider the sonic boom attack as an option). This field would default to true (sonic boom enabled), and would never be set to false in standard gameplay, but the field's existence would open more opportunities for creators of custom maps, minigames, etc., by having a fast, tanky, terrifying, sound-based mob without ranged capabilities.
Example usage: A map in the gameplay style of Metroid Dread, where there is always a warden chasing after you. Giving the creator the option to turn off the sonic boom attack would allow them to force the warden to engage with pathfinding, or would allow the creator to make "safe areas" that are still within the warden's follow range.
Another example: A minigame creator could make a pvp map with a warden locked up in a room. Having the sonic boom turned off would prevent the warden from shooting players all around the map through the walls.
