The current authentication tokens expire after 24 hours. This, when paired with a lack of refresh tokens, results in an annoying experience for players frequently active on servers. There are plenty of us who keep the game running nearly constantly, if only in the background for easy access. We either need a longer authentication period or refresh tokens that the game can take advantage of.
Minecraft is a big deal, but its security is not more vital than many other services that have refresh tokens for their authentication. The fact that Minecraft has a more locked down authentication flow than Google is just unnecessary.
Frankly, it feels like a punishment for migrating our accounts.
