Fireflies are the first light emitting mob attaching to a surface when released and glowing slightly brighter than lichen. While in flight, the beetle becomes 2 incorporeal flashing pixels incapable of being hit with fists, swords, or anything of the likeness.
To capture firefly beetles, using flower pots with differing flowers or saplings get a cluster to slowly form on it to eat.
When the ferns, sprig, or flower is covered at the deepest of night left clicking with a potion will put 8 into 1 care bottle.
To take care of a living creature inside the bottle, crafting a glass bottle with an apple and a moss carpet will create a tiny environment to sustain the humble and hungry beetles.
When captured the fireflies would be in adolescence and reach adulthood in bottle.
A full care bottle could be labeled "glowbeetle bottle" as fireflies dont necessarily have to be or stay as such.
Glowbeetle bottles would take a day cycle to mature, once matured would become throwable deployment bottles.
Allowing players to negate using torches with a replacement but that can fill caves easier with enough farming and planning.
Being one of the few stackable bottle variants, as bottles mature they would transfer from one stack to another.
This way fireflies dont necessarily need to perish, the swamp biome can focus on being filled with weird lighting opportunities, and theres a symbiotic relationship with players not necessarily farming said swamp animals but giving different experiences.
