I love the natural feel that Minecraft world generation has, but quite often I feel like the expansive landscapes need to be broken up by a little more than the occasional village, desert well, or ruined portal. As such, I believe there should be small ruins or unexplained altars with a single loot chest nearby to break up the expansiveness and make an area feel like it was inhabited at one time; nothing too large, as most players probably wouldn’t want to spend too much time removing a structure so they can build their own things. These structures could even tie into archeology when it eventually comes out by incorporating archeology items to their loot tables. Additionally, these small ruins and altars could even have variants in the nether and end that serve the same purpose.
