So I've had this idea for a while ever since seeing the glare's design in the mob vote but I was thinking it'd be cool if we had a leaf monster-like creature like the glare but acted as a mob alarm.
The way I see this working is that this creature (The Peeper) would be able to be tamed and have the ability to hide in Leaf blocks like silverfish with stone. I imagine they'd be able to provide a Redstone signal when any hostile mobs within a range similar to a parrot entered that area and make a chime noise which would make a kind of wooden clunking noise.
I imagine that in order to get one though you'd have to go out into the world and find an Azealia tree which would have a rare chance of housing the Peeper. Once found you'd have to click on the Peeper infested leaf block which would rustle them out of the leaves. Then they'd run off to a different leaf block while freezing you in place, from there you'd have to go and find their infested block again which would appear within an area of like 1 chunk away, and continue this process 3-5 times before the peeper would be tamed.
Once tamed the peeper would follow you around unless you made them sit which would cause them to freeze in place and become like a decorative bush like the copper golem would've once fully oxidised. The Peeper would only provide a Redstone signal if it's infested a block which can be done by making your peeper sit on any leaf block. Feeding it a diamond could make it alarm Other players as well for a time.
