(Since this is technically about bugs, should it really go in the bugfix section...?)
- Beetles are small arthropods that come in sixteen different colors; and are unique to specific biomes. Each color of beetle also possesses a unique noise; effectively allowing biomes to have their own ambient noises. (Red beetles make low thrumming noises, and are unique to dark forests; light grey beetles are unique to ice spike biomes and make ice chime noises, pink beetles are unique to flower forests, and make chirping noises, Brown beetles are unique to plains and taigas, and make a wood-peckery, clattering noise, etc.)
- Beetles can be captured and relased using bottles, both for their ambience, as well as potions. Brewing a beetle with an existing potion turns it into a special beetle- when released, it targets the first thing you attack, and bestows the potion effect on your target.
- Beetles can be bred using frog spawn. (Frogs eat them.) they drop dyes on death, making them a reliable source of these materials, including dyes that otherwise couldn't be farmed.
- Special varieties, (such as rarer spotted or shiny versions of beetles), could further encourage collection.
