As a result of switching from GLFW to SDL3 in 26.3, Minecraft uses the physical positions of the keys on the keyboard, and therefore does not respect user remaps of keys. While this is beneficial to users with different layouts (azerty, dvorak, colemak, etc), since they don't have to switch to a specific layout to play Minecraft, this is a problem for users who remap their keys, since Minecraft does not respect those remaps.
For example, when swapping the escape and caps lock buttons on linux with xorg using
setxkbmap -option caps:swapescape
the game does not respect those changes. That is, the game treats the physical caps lock (which is mapped to escape), as caps lock.
I understand why this change was made, so I am not asking for it to be reverted, but I think there should be an option in the settings to go back to pre-26.3 functionality, where the game respects user remaps.
