Ideas to Improve the Snow Golem
The Snow Golem is one of my favorite mobs, but I feel like it has a lot of unused potential. Here are a few ideas that could make it more useful and fun.
1. Iceballs
Snow Golems could throw small iceballs instead of snowballs. Hitting enemies would apply a short Slowness effect, with multiple hits making them slower up to a limit.
2. Snow Flower
A new craftable item made with a Poppy surrounded by Snowballs. Giving it to a Snow Golem would make it follow the player and become a helpful companion.
3. Better Combat Behavior
Snow Golems could actively protect their owners by attacking enemies that threaten nearby players.
4. Surviving in the Nether
Giving a Snow Golem a Potion of Fire Resistance would temporarily protect it from heat, allowing it to survive in the Nether.
5. New Animations and Sounds
More natural walking, improved throwing animations and new reactions to nearby players and enemies would make Snow Golems feel more alive.
Snow Golems don't need to become overpowered. They just need more personality, useful abilities and reasons for players to keep them around.
Please give the Snow Golem some love! It's one of my favorite mobs.
