The iron golems are only melee and are pretty weak on their own, and keep dying to skeletons. They also get mad at snow golems if friendly fire happens, but even then snow golems don't deal actual damage. I think, to autonomously protect villages/villager places that the player builds, there should be a ranged counterpart to the iron golem. I think it should be a golem that already exists in the Minecraft franchise; not a new one. It should be a plank golem from Minecraft Legends. Whether implemented as a pet that doesn't accidentally friendly fire the iron golems, or plank golems that cooperate with iron golems for villages, I believe a ranged counterpart of the iron golem would be nice. Or for villages, maybe biome dependent variants of different woods that regard to that village. And as a pet, they could be a ranged counterpart to the tamed wolves. I would really like to see this in the game, whether implemented as a pet or a village defender. (But please make it not friendly fire the iron golems!).
