Lore Proposal: The Warden & Iron Golem Link
This theory bridges the Deep Dark with surface Villagers, explaining why the Warden and Iron Golem share an identical upward-swinging arm animation.
1. The Ancient Guardian: Long ago, underground villagers built gentle, light-gray mechanical protectors to defend their advanced cities alongside Allay helpers.
2. The Sculk Virus: While experimenting with soul energy, they opened a portal to "The Sift." An invasive sculk virus leaked out, infecting the prime light-gray guardian—blinding it and mutating it into the first Warden.
3. The Split: Escaping citizens fled to the surface, but the trauma wiped their memory, making them simple modern Villagers. Left-behind survivors mutated into vengeful, gray-skinned Illagers.
4. The Iron Golem: On the surface, villagers built the Iron Golem from a fractured memory of their old protector, copying its exact upward-swinging fight style to launch threats away.
5. Warden Factories: Driven by sculk in their brains, Illagers now raid the surface to warp Allays into Vexes and capture Iron Golems. They drag the Golems to Ancient Cities, forcing them to mutate back into Warden slaves to guard their loot.
